Reviews
This Danube Bend day trip was very well organized, covering Visegrád, Esztergom, and Szentendre smoothly within a day. The guide’s explanations were detailed and insightful, adding a lot of depth to each stop. With beautiful weather throughout the trip, everything felt even more enjoyable. The scenery along the Danube was stunning, and the overall experience was relaxed and seamless.
A very nice, experienced guide with a great sense of humor who creates a good atmosphere among the participants. Clear and loud pronunciation in English. Happy to answer all questions. A very pleasant and entertaining tour. Highly recommended if you want to leave the city of Budapest to discover the country's interior.
This trip started with a distant view of Esztergom from across the river in Slovakia, followed by a visit to Esztergom itself. For lunch, we went to Visegrád, and the restaurant the tour company chose for us had delicious and reasonably priced meals. After that, we visited the castle, and finally, we strolled around Szentendre before taking a boat back to Budapest. Our guide, Maria, was excellent. At each attraction, she allowed us to freely choose whether to follow her or explore on our own, and she gave us about an hour to visit each site, which was enough time for us to take pictures and buy souvenirs. Since our English isn't very good, we had to find the guide again at each new attraction to confirm the meeting time and place, and she was always patient and friendly in explaining until she was sure we understood.
The tour guide first took us to Esztergom by minibus, crossed the bridge to the Slovak River bank, and saw the Esztergomi Bazilika on the opposite bank. Then he took us to visit the temple. He recommended the difficult DOME VIEW tour, which required climbing small stone steps all the way, with handrails for support. From the highest point you can overlook the entire view. The second stop is to Visegrád Castle and the small museum. The third stop is Esztergomi BazilikaSzentendre, a hipster town where you can stroll around leisurely.
All three towns we stopped in are worth visiting. The Basilica in Esztergom is magnificent, and it was interesting to be able to cross a bridge into Slovakia. However, if you want to fully experience the grandeur of the Basilica, I recommend not going on a Sunday. On the day I visited, there was a special mass taking place, so we could only see the lower part of the church and were unable to enter the main hall. The tour guide apologized for this, but we understood it wasn't his fault. Visegrad Castle offers beautiful scenery, and Szentendre is also a charming European town, though it would have been ideal to have more time there. Since we visited in the summer, our return trip to Budapest city center was by boat, which was a great arrangement because the cruise passes by the Parliament Building. Lunch was around 2:30 PM, so I suggest having breakfast before you depart.
was able to get the tour with 50% discount. such a great value. bus is clean and guide is good as well. all 4 location are good and nice.
Nicely planned daytrip from Budapest. the tour operator Cityrama is conveniently located in the city center and easy to reach. They have an office, so it is not just a random meeting spot. They cover the 3 spots as described in the itinerary and also goto to Slovakia for a photostop. We got 35% discount, so was well worth the money. The lunch stop was at a restaurant of their choice in Visegrad, so it is a bit of a forced decision. However, the food was good, a tad expensive.
An amazing trip! The driver and two tour guides were very thoughtful and enthusiastic, taking turns explaining the history of the towns and attractions along the Danube in Spanish and English. They accompanied all the group members throughout the entire trip, making it a very comfortable journey. It made me feel very relaxed and at ease!
The tour guide and the driver are very friendly and nice. The driver will assist when getting off the car. He is a very nice person. The tour guide's itinerary planning is leisurely and relaxing. The lunch restaurant has a comfortable space and good meals. There is a Chinese menu for easy ordering. The town of San André is really beautiful and worth visiting. On the way back, we took a boat trip on the Dounao River.
The tour guide gave a very detailed introduction. You can also take this trip to the north of Hungary. The church in Ostergon overlooks the Danube, which is very beautiful. There are many small shops in Szentendre, and you can also take a boat back to Budapest from here, which takes about 1 hour.
