The best thing about Hotel Fontana is its location. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was only a few minutes’ walk from the Amalfi pier, which made arriving with a large suitcase much easier than I expected. For location, I would give it five stars. The main challenge on arrival was carrying my 22 kg suitcase up the steps to reception. The room was otherwise okay, but it felt dated and could benefit from refurbishment, especially the bathroom. The shower was very narrow, even for me as a petite person, and the rain shower was impractical when I didn’t want to wash my hair. I didn’t get to try breakfast because it started at 8 a.m.; an earlier start would be helpful for guests heading out early. My interactions with the staff were limited to check-in and check-out, so I can’t say much about the service. Overall, the hotel’s proximity to the pier is a real advantage, and the room balcony that I got comes with this stunning view, the room and shower could be more comfortable.
