Great

Beautiful location surrounded by stunning nature, with amazing rooms and a breakfast of a very high standard. However, the grounds and overall maintenance do not reflect the level expected from a Relais & Châteaux or Michelin Key property. There were dry leaves and weeds throughout the territory, and several trees appeared infested or dying. For such a large estate, there should clearly be more gardeners and stronger attention to maintenance and cleanliness. The lunch and dinner offerings were also disappointing considering the prices charged. At this level, the quality should match the cost. In particular, dishes prepared with raw tuna were served with the fish appearing brown rather than bright red or pink. As a cook myself, I know this indicates oxidation and a lack of freshness. I was also surprised that the concierge sent me an unsolicited bill via WhatsApp the night before checkout while I was still relaxing and my departure was only the following morning. At high-end properties, the guest experience is usually handled in a far more seamless and discreet manner. I have stayed at several Relais & Châteaux hotels before, and unfortunately this was among the weakest experiences in terms of service and guest handling. I would recommend taking inspiration from the Constance hotel group, particularly Prince Maurice, which understands luxury hospitality and guest relations at a much higher standard.

One of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Rooms are large with all amenities you could need - including steam room in the shower. Property is well kept, with wildlife around. Lovely beach with beach club and a fabulous crescent shaped infinity pool with unbelievable views over the bay. Food is delicious and the staff are friendly and helpful - Salman in particular helped really make the stay extra special, seeing that every need we had was met. Couldn’t recommend this place more.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cape Weligama Hotel. We received a warm welcome on arrival and were taken by buggy to our amazing room overlooking the garden. It was spacious and so was the bathroom. A short walk to the dining room for dinner and breakfast and we enjoyed being able to sit outside on the terrace for both. My husband went on a nature walk with a ranger around the property and was shown different plants and birds which he really enjoyed. In summary, we really enjoyed our stay here and can really recommend it.

10/10 hotel. Would highly recommend to anyone. It’s so incredibly beautiful with such lush tropical vegetation throughout the whole hotel. The rooms are huge, beautifully presented with everything you need. The service is amazing, with such friendly and helpful staff at every corner of the hotel. Nothing is too much for anyone here! We came on our honeymoon and are leaving feeling like we want to revisit soon! The pools are really lovely also, and the beach (although rocky) is really nice. A very memorable special stay at this hotel!

The hotel is very impressive, from the moment you check in you are well looked after, the staff are polite, attentive and always on hand to help you. Our Villa was beautiful and spacious. Breakfast was good but not great - the Sri Lankan options were far better than the Western options, but the food is plentiful & you can order multiple dishes. The hotel is pure luxury, however after staying in other hotels and travelling around Sri Lanka for the two weeks prior, this just felt a little lacking in authenticity which was surprising especially as it is not an international chain. Perhaps it was just a quiet time and we only stayed 2 nights so didn’t get to fully immerse. The location was too far for us from the local town, it’s quite remote which for some is probably ideal but if you are looking to explore you will have to get a tuktuk or taxi around - and beware the hotel bump the rate up hugely if you book through them (airport transfer quoted $270 vs $60 when booked through a local guide). Overall a good stay, made better by exceptional service, but for the price I wanted it to feel a little more special!

This resort is next level, from friendliness of staff, quality and options in dining choices, we were privileged to be upgraded to a pool villa that was simply huge and stunning and on our last day were given a late checkout that exceeded expectations. Our only disappointment is that we have to leave however we will definitely be back. Thank you Shan and team for such an enjoyable stay.
