What people are saying about Art Tour in Singapore

Enjoyed the tour immensely!Rachel was enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable about art and architecture, sharing with us stories and the history in Civic District & Chinatown. For us, the key highlights would be the visit to National Gallery Singapore and the large artwork prints of Singaporean artists, especially Mr Chua Mia Tee. Definitely walked away from the tour with a greater appreciation for local art and Singapore's past. Tour is also well paced. Great tour even for locals to discover things they never knew.

If you’ve wandered past any of the arresting and engaging wall murals in Chinatown and paused to be drawn into their stories, this tour is for you. Be transported back to Singapore’s ‘early days’ through this outdoor art gallery and let Ben (or his friends) transport you to a time when sarsi and F&N grape greeted guests at Chinese New Year. Then relive the history of a 96 year old tea business which has shaped bak Kut teh through the narrative of its current 3rd and 4th generation owners who generously share their story, passion and knowledge of ‘nanyang tea’ complete with tea tasting (with a difference… I’ll not ruin the little surprise here), hands on tea packing session (not as easy as it looks!) and a very very cool ‘combo tea set’ to take home.

An excellent tour by any measure! I have been to several such walking tours in Singapore and this Chinatown one is by far the one that left the deepest impression. Coz the guide (Jasmine) was sincere, friendly and most important of all, she was able to bring to life a Chinatown of old that evoked a deep sense of nostalgia through vivid personal tales and wall art. A 100% satisfied customer :)

Angel is a natural, leading us through some of the highlights of early Singapore history, including details of the Sultan who sold off the inheritance of his children to fund his lavish lifestyle. She regaled us with stories of the origins of Lavender Street's name, Munshi Abdullah, Raffles' interpreter contribution to the language, we toured the grounds of the Sultan's palace, etc. She is a natural, lively narrator -- there was a nice balance of interesting facts, Q & A, walking and even snacking. It was drizzling, but that didn't bother us. We ended with an interesting story of the origins of the term, Mat Salleh. This is my 3rd walking tour, and so far, the best.

We have an amazing morning with Angel, our guide from Monster Day Tour. Although we are Singaporeans, we still learn quite a few new things from her during "A Guided Walking Tour of Little India: Journey of the Senses" She told us interesting stories and didn't bore us with detailed history, and she encouraged to have fun taking pictures, and be tourists in our own country. We were given a nice treat, a taste of India, too....
