pick up was easy at YHA Queenstown Lakeside. driver's commentary was great. very knowledgeable, gave lots of facts. the Japanese guide was also very helpful in gathering the group. both of them had pleasant smiles.
we took JUCY's cruise catamaran to Milford Sound. the captain was very entertaining & because of this, we had lots of fun! especially getting glacier facials!! lunch buffet on the catamaran was asian food. overall package was reasonably priced
I know this review maybe just my personal opinion. The ship was great and comfortable with cooked buffet-styled breakfast (I think it is only provided in the tour departing at 0900am). The Underwater Observatory was interesting at first glance as I have never seen anything like it before, but staying there for 20 minutes was a bit bored for me because the view of fishes and water outside widows didn’t change much. The main reason for giving 3 stars is that the view in Milford Sound wasn’t as outstanding and breathtaking as I thought it would be. Just my personal opinion, the view was just a combination of a vast ocean and tall mountains, which you can easily see around the coast lines in NZ, but somehow we still managed to see some dolphins and seals, where were a bonus.
We enjoyed the tour very much with GreatSights, especially because of our friendly guide Santiago. Although we did not manage to see Milford Sound in the end due to the very bad weather, we learnt a lot from Santiago's humorous commentaries. We can imagine how awesome it would be to complete the entire tour.. We might visit again to try our luck. I wouldn't miss this in NZ!!!
We were lucky to embark on the trip on a bright and sunny day when Milford Sound is rainy 2/3 of the year. Bus ride was long but driver made frequent stops along the way after Te Anau and gave good commentaries about wildlife. We chose Japanese bento for lunch and it was a good decision as buffet queue was super long. Food was very filling and spread was good. We also chose the nature cruise (30mins longer) instead of scenic and it brought us to the edges to see wildlife. We saw a lovely pair of endemic Fiordland crested penguins and 13 fur seals! Bring a pair of binoculars if you can. The cruise went very near to the waterfall and we had a fantastic though wet experience on the upper deck. Overall a very enjoyable trip and well worth the long coach ride from queenstown.
Very beautiful scenery and glacial facial under the Stirling falls.the drive up to and fro Milford sound will be a challenge, 2 hours per journey from te anau. But I assure you the experience is so wholesome. Sign up for the kayaking if you can and you can brag to others you've even kayaked at Milford Sound.
The best view and landscapes I've seen so far in my entire life 😍
It's really stunningly beautiful and worth to visit at least once in your lifetime 🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
