About the event

Resound Collective is thrilled to welcome back cellist Qin Li-Wei for a captivating concert featuring Jean Françaix’s virtuosic Concert Variations for Cello, C.P.E. Bach’s expressive Cello Concerto in A major, and Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 3, “Eroica”.

Blending diverse styles from classical sensitivity to modern wit and revolutionary spirit, this performance continues Qin Li-Wei’s remarkable musical journey with re:Sound, under the leadership of Yang Shuxiang.

This also marks Qin Li-Wei’s third collaboration with re:Sound, following memorable appearances in 2019 and 2023. In Standing on the Shoulders of Giants (2019), he performed Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme, and in Three Concertos with re:Sound (2023), he brought warmth and clarity to Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in C major. We’re delighted to have him back on stage this August. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear him in concert once again.

About the organiser

Resound Collective Limited is a Singapore-based musicians’ collective and registered charity that promotes music for small orchestra and chamber ensembles. The company organises re:Sound, the first professional chamber orchestra in the country, and the Concordia Quartet, which made its debut in February 2020.

Members of the collective are conservatory-trained music majors, most of whom have attained post-graduate training around the world. They are among Singapore’s most talented and dedicated musicians, who share the vision of enriching the classical music landscape by performing at the highest level.

re:Sound chamber orchestra made its debut in 2016, and has presented concerts with music ranging from Baroque to the 21st century, including several new commissions. Often performing without a conductor, the orchestra has been hailed by the Straits Times as “Singapore’s answer to London’s Academy of St Martin in the Fields”.

Guest artists who have performed with re:Sound include violinists Enrico Onofri, Pavlo Beznosiuk, Chloe Chua, Igor Yuzefovich, Ike See, Mark Gothóni, and Kam Ning, cellists Ng Pei-Sian and Yuko Miyagawa, pianists Stephen Hough, Melvyn Tan, Dennis Lee, Lim Yan, Shaun Choo and Koh Jia Hwei, toy pianist Margaret Leng Tan, tenor Thomas Ruud, the Nidaros Cathedral Male Choir, as worked with conductors Bjørn Moe, Ralf Gothóni, Jason Lai, Lim Soon Lee, Adrian Chiang and Lien Boon Hua.

Highlights of re:Sound’s 2025 calendar include the Singapore leg of Sigur Rós’ orchestral world tour, the world premiere of a work by Jonathan Dove, and return performances with violinist Keila Wakao and cellist Qin Li-Wei.
