data in Laos is quite expensive than the other ASEAN countries yet the signal is fast and 4g

Vientiane was a different kind of experience. I explored the city on my friend's bicycle and found a place that quietly reminds you to take your time.

Everything worked out wonderfully. From setting up the eSIM, to network coverage and usage primarily in Luang Prabang and its surroundings, there was always at least a 4G network.

I also used the Thai version, and comparing the two, I felt that the signal quality in Laos itself was poor. I definitely want to use this service again next time.

I’ve used Laotel network across different parts of Vientiane and Vang Vieng, and honestly the experience isn’t consistent. In Vientiane, especially in certain neighborhoods, the connection can be quite unreliable. Speeds drop during peak hours, and sometimes the signal just disappears indoors. It feels like the infrastructure there hasn’t kept up with demand. On the other hand, I was surprised by how much better things were in Vang Vieng. In most tourist areas, the signal was stable and fast enough for streaming and video calls. It seems like they’ve invested more in coverage where tourists stay, which makes sense but also highlights the uneven service quality across locations. Overall, Laotel network isn’t “bad” everywhere, but it’s definitely not as consistent as advertised. If you’re staying in central or tourist-heavy areas like Vang Vieng, you’ll probably have a good experience. But in parts of Vientiane, especially outside main districts, you might run into frustrating connection

I used a Laos eSIM during my trip and it worked really well overall. The setup process was straightforward and quick—I was able to activate it within minutes without needing to visit a store or swap physical SIM cards. The connection was generally stable, especially in main areas like Luang Prabang and Vientiane, with good data speeds for browsing, maps, and messaging. Coverage did drop slightly in more remote areas, but that’s expected.
