One of the things we surely do miss is the simple pleasures of eating out in our favourite local cafes and restaurants! With the recent announcement, cafes and restaurants have been given the green light to open for dine in customers starting this Friday May 15, with a maximum capacity of 10 patrons at a time, as well as complying with distancing measures, of course! If you’re a foodie in Sydney looking to venture out for a meal again, here are places where you can dine your heart out starting this Friday:

    For your Indian Cravings...

    1. Don't Tell Aunty

This restaurant describes itself to serve "innovative Indian foods and wine driven by creativity and thought, not rule and tradition." By its one-of-a-kind name itself, it's clear what we can expect- a modern and creative take on favourite Indian dishes.
Location: 414 Bourke st, Surry Hills, New South Wales, Australia
Open from lunch at 11am this Friday

    What about some Italian?

    2. Mangiasti Restaurant

Authentic Italian pizza, pasta... We're drooling just thinking about it! Mangiasti is known to serve Southern Italian cuisine- so if you want to take a short trip to Italy this weekend, this is the place to be. Their recipes have been passed down generations, so you can only expect original, genuine Italian flavours. Delizioso!
Location: 15 Babbage Road Roseville Chase, New South Wales, Australia
    Open from 4:30pm onwards

    3. La Favola

Another take on authentic Italian, but this time specialising on fresh Italian pasta, with a fusion of native Australian ingredients. Chef Fabio Stefanelli has worked in multiple Michelin-star restaurants from around the world so you can definitely keep those expectations high! Tip: Don't forget to order their signature dish- Il Raviolo -a homemade potato pasta with buffalo mozzarella, basil and tomato- yum!
Location: 170 King Street, Newtown, New South Wales, Australia
    Open from 5:30pm onwards

    For good coffee and brunch..

    4. Hills Bro

What's better than starting your day with a choice of irresistible french toast, pancakes, or good old avo toast? And of course, with your Flat White in hand. If all those sound good to you.. pop in for a coffee or a bite to eat here to start your day.
Location: 5 Martin Place, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
    Open from 7am onward

    5. Speedos Cafe

This cafe is a favourite of locals and tourists alike because of 1- its location at Bondi’s trendy north side, and 2- its creative menu from stacks and stacks of pancakes to the tastiest vegan, gluten and dairy-free options in town. The cafe deems itself to be a one of the world's most instagrammable cafes- so if you're keen for some photogenic tasty food, along with a million-dollar view of Bondi beach, this one's your go-to.
Location: 26 Ramsgate Ave, North Bondi, New South Wales, Australia
    Open from 6am to brunch
So there you have it, some ideas on how to spend our first weekend back into eating out (and away from home cooked meals for once!)

As Australia starts to reopen bit by bit, it's also time to revisit what we can explore right here at our own backyard. Good news is, we can help you with some inspiration! Read more below.
