    But 20 days of annual leave isn't quite enough time to fit in all holidays we're dreaming of going on in 2023 whether it's finally traveling to Japan again after it's reopened, going to Bali for the 69th time to sink Bintangs or backpacking around Europe.
    With a bit of extra planning, you can take advantage of the public holidays to almost double your annual leave. So we've done the maths to help you make the most of the public holidays in 2023.

    Take these days off: Wednesday, December 28 Thursday, December 29 Friday, December 30
    Best time to travel to: Europe
    From its winter wonderland scenery that's right out of a fairytale to dazzling Christmas markets, it's hard to resist the charm of Europe during the festive season.

    Go on holidays between: Saturday, January 21 – Sunday, January 29
    Take these days off: Monday, January 23 Tuesday, January 24 Wednesday, January 25 Friday, January 27
    Best time to travel to: Switzerland
    Since the Christmas peak season is over, there are usually fewer tourists in Switzerland in January. Snow-capped slopes of the stunning Swiss Alps and the Matterhorn mountain.

    Best time to travel to: the USA
    This period is right before summer kicks off in America, which means you can enjoy warm weather and explore your favourite American landmarks and theme parks without the crowds and exxy prices of the summer peak season.

    December 2023/January 2024

    Best time to travel to: Europe for a magical Christmas.
