What To Expect

Experience the wonder, color, and tradition of the incredible ceremony within the Jindo Miracle Sea Road Festival 2018. From Busan, you'll depart with your tour group to arrive at the festival site. Every year, the sacred historic natural phenomenon is celebrated. Once a year in Jindo Island, found in Jeollanam-do, a natural tide causes a buildup of pebbles and sand to be exposed, creating a pathway from the mainland to the island as though by magic. And every year, the “parting of the sea” is celebrated in a festival by the locals and the thousands of tourists that come to see the event. You'll be able to watch the parting of the sea take place ceremonially, and visitors are also able to walk along this sea road, where they can pick up abalone from the sea floor, and take part in numerous other festival activities. This tradition goes well into the night, as the sea is “parted” at around sundown as ceremony dictates, when the sea is at extremely low tide. Your tour will end back at Busan.

A very interesting experience that everyone should go for if the opportunity arose :) even though the ride there was 6 hours long (including three stops for Toilet and food), even though my left boot had a hole that caused the leg of my jeans to be wet, even though I was afraid of tripping and falling into the water while walking on the sea road, I thoroughly enjoyed myself! Our two guides, Julian and Jay, were great, entertaining us with their jokes and julian's singing and freestyle rap. They are quite new in this (it was jay's first time to jindo) so don't expect them to be like those professionals who are very knowledgeable about the place etc. They are more like friendly locals who enjoy meeting new people and sharing their experiences. Oh and remember to bring a jacket as the strong winds made it real cold there.
