What to expect

The British Consulate Cultural Park at Takow, located in Gushan District, Kaohsiung City, includes three areas: the Former British Consulate Residence on the hill, the Former British Consulate Office at the foot of the hill, and the ancient mountain trail. It was the first consulate built by the British government in Taiwan and the only consulate park in Taiwan that completely preserves both the residence and the office. In 2019, it was upgraded to a national historic site by the Ministry of Culture. The best time to visit the Former British Consulate Residence and witness the evolution of Taiwan's colonial architectural style is from afternoon to dusk, allowing you to capture the stunning Xizi Bay sunset.

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 10:00-19:00 (Last ticket sale and admission at 18:30)
  • Saturday, Sunday, and National Holidays: 09:00-19:00 (Last ticket sale and admission at 18:30)
  • Closed: Every Wednesday for historic site maintenance (open as usual if it falls on a national holiday)
  • Closed if Kaohsiung City announces work suspension
