What to expect
The "Kiyotsu Gorge Tunnel " was renewed as an art piece called "Tunnel of Light" by Ma Yansong/MAD Architects at the "Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2018." The artwork is displayed at three observation points overlooking the great canyon of Seikyokyo and at the Panorama Station, which is the endpoint of the tunnel. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent beauty of the canyon from the 750-meter-long tunnel. Especially, the Panorama Station's "Light Cape (Cave of Light)" offers a fantastic art space where the landscape of Seikyokyo is reflected in the water mirror. While feeling the coolness of the valley's stream with their feet, visitors are encouraged to experience the space integrated with the scenery

This experience was beyond my expectations and was incredibly beautiful. we took a train from Aomori station and hired a taxi at Echigo-Yuzawa station to Kiyotsu Gorge. Purchasing tickets on Klook saved us from having to wait in a long line and we beat the crowds and had the opportunity to experience the views without the crowds. we arrived there at 10am and when we left at 12noon it was crowded with tour buses.
nature + art all in one, highly recommended. expect large crowds though, you just need patience on your turn to take pics.
It is more suitable for those who drive here to take the bus. There are few buses and the place to get off is about 3 kilometers away from Chongjin Gorge. It is an easy walk. It is only up and down. It is not recommended for people who are not exercising. Fortunately, you have to buy a ticket on klook first, otherwise When we went there, they said there were no tickets available. Maybe they were booked out by many local tour groups.
We went by bus. If we hadn't lived in Yuzawa, we wouldn't have been able to catch the morning bus. The afternoon bus was too late and we had to get off the bus and walk for about 25 minutes to get there. There was only nature along the way. There were no shops. There were no tickets available on the spot that day. Fortunately, I have booked the tickets on klook first and just scan the QR to go in.
Qingjin Gorge is really beautiful. Although it is a bit far, it is really worth a visit. There are no tickets for sale on site during the Land Art Festival, so be sure to confirm your train schedule and book your tickets online before setting off.
Make a reservation online in advance to avoid being sold out when you arrive. After arriving at the destination, just give the relevant staff the QR code and follow the instructions to reach the destination.
Buy tickets on Klook in advance, just show the QR code at the entrance to enter, very convenient! No need to queue to buy tickets on site!
You must reserve tickets during the Nepal tour, otherwise you will not be able to enter. It is very convenient to use the QR Code to enter.
The combination of natural landscape and installation art is great👍but walking from the bus station to the tunnel entrance and it’s raining is really tiring🥱
This place is really beautiful and worth visiting. . . . . . .
