What to expect

Good to know
- Please be aware that stargazing tours are weather dependent, they may be canceled in case of cloud cover meaning no visible stars.
If it is overcast, you will receive an email at 1 pm on the day of the tour.
In the event of bad weather, we will give you 2 options:
Choose to receive a gift voucher/credit to reschedule your tour (transferable to other people and valid for 3 years)
Choose to attend our alternative 90-min indoor Planetarium Astronomy tour located at 77 Scott avenue in Leura. It is an immersive astronomy tour taking place inside a dome with a powerful projector and cinema experience. We need a minimum of 8 guests in order to run the indoor tour.
Accessibility: Please note the venue of the Planetarium that we rent has doors that are 76 cm wide, so unfortunately not all electric wheelchairs fit.
If you haven’t received an email at 1 pm on the day of the tour, it means the stars are aligned and the stargazing tour is confirmed!
Please note that no strictly refund will be offered in case of bad weather. We recommend you to book last minute and to contact us after 1pm on the day on the tour, if you do not wish to receive a credit or attend the indoor tour.
Reviews
Amazing experience but it was very cold remember to wear more during this tour. The tour guide was experienced and thoughtful giving us warm blanket and hot chocolate was amazing !
The idea of stargazing in the mountains is really a cool idea, however, it was quite stressful for us to go to the meeting point since we don’t have our own car. we did use Uber to go the meeting point since we’re staying in the town proper, but going back we had to prebook a local taxi just to make sure we can go back to our hotel after the activity. and since it’s winter, it was very cold. it’s also very dark in the area since there was no guide lights from the meeting point to the actual viewing deck. we also felt bad for the astronomer since the host of the activity didn’t show up and he was left alone to do everything. we also didn’t get some hot chocolates as we were told the supplier cannot provide it that night. we did get a refund for it though. overall, i would still recommend this tour if you really want to experience looking at the stars in a vast open area.
Great experience, guides were very knowledgeable. Learnt a few interesting facts along the way
It was really cold but we could see many stars for the night. Wonderful experience. Tour guide was very knowledgeable.
The Blue Mountain night sky did not disappoint, it was clear and littered with stars. Tom, our astronomer, was very knowledgeable and shared with us numerous insights. He was also able to easily answer all questions thrown from the ground. Even though it was summer at time of event, it was pretty chilly at night and the crew gave us blankets and hot chocolate to keep warm. Awesome experience!
Our guides Matilde and Tom were friendly, hospitable and knowledgeable. They were able to interest and educate us on the world of stargazing. The time really flew by. I highly recommend this activity.
The Guide was informative and explained in detail the constellation and galaxies, the heat signature of the stars, and more. The Guide interacted a lot with the guest, answering any questions we had. The assistant matilda was extremely helpful and provided hot drinks and blankets during the tour. Strongly recommend the tour and adequate clothing!
I have to say the inner nerd in me was really excited for this. And I am glad to say that it didn’t disappoint! I’ve never seen such clear skies and the guides made it so much more interesting and interactive for everyone in the group. Would definitely do this again the next time I’m here!
It was a once in a life time experience for us and We enjoyed every min of it :) even the oat hot choc that was a life saver in the cold.
we can see a lot of stars. but we only get to watch 4 planets via the telescope one by one as there are about 15-20 in a group. we manage to see the moon, Venus, Saturn and Jupiter. overall, it is a new experience for my family.
