# Yilan National Center for Traditional Arts The Yilan National Center for Traditional Arts is a paradise for all art, culture, and literature enthusiasts and is definitely a must-visit attraction in Yilan.

There are three buildings in the park that can be visited, including the Wenchang Temple, the former residence of Huang Zuanxu, Yilan's first Juren (a successful candidate in the imperial examination), and Guangxiao Hall. Each of the three has its own characteristics and is a representative of the local art and culture. The Wenchang Temple is regarded by the locals as a sanctuary for literati because the Five Saints Wenchang enshrined in it have long protected scholars. In addition, the halls also enshrine the founders of opera and the founders of crafts, who are of great significance to the inheritance of traditional Yilan art. In addition to the above three buildings, there are many attractions in the park that can be visited.

• February event introduction: On Chuanyi Avenue, the numerous specialty handmade stalls will dazzle you, and there are wonderful live performances to watch in the square. If you are tired from walking, you may wish to take a遊船 (yóuchuán) at the pier to enjoy the beautiful scenery. You can also visit Guangxiao Hall and the former residence of Juren Huang Zuanxu to learn about Yilan family traditions, fertility rituals, and folk culture. In the park, you can even participate in DIY hand-made courses to experience making various handicrafts, or participate in on-site遶境 (ràojìng) activities to ward off evil and bring good luck home.
