I can see how this activity could disappoint. the night we went so it was perfect. but there are a lot of seats and if they were full it could have been disappointing. we paid 2200 pp extra on arrival to sit up front. 800 pp is second row. and third row is even less. otherwise you’re stuck to the last 3 rows of the room even if the place is not full. the dinner is traditional Japanese. I liked it but my kid did not. if you add the tea ceremony it will be served at the start of the dinner time. everyone watches it. even those who didn’t pay. but you’ll get your own tea set to participate. then they’ll bring out your dinner (those who did not book the tea ceremony add-on will be eating already). drinks are additional price. you don’t get even water with the meal. only about 3-4 people can be selected to play games. and the gift is a tiny self adhesive sticker with the Maiko’s name on it. the interpreter was good.
this was such a fantastic experience! loved meeting our maiko and listening to her answer our questions. highly recommend!
Maiko and team were very friendly. Learned a lot about the life of a Maiko and how she transitions to a Geiko (also known as Geisha in Tokyo region). Maiko danced for the group and also demonstrated tea preparation.
I found the event very inspiring – I was able to sit very close to the front, participated in the tea ceremony, and had the chance to take good photos. The food was good and plentiful. The host spoke clearly enough for me to follow everything well. But the biggest praise goes to Meiko, who designed every part of the event very well. Highly recommended!
such a great experience to meet a maiko. she showed how to make matcha. I've learned a lot from Q+A. she also danced and played games with us.
maiko was beautiful, her dances stunning. we could ask questions and my 12yo son got to play a game with her. I enjoyed lunch and you can buy drinks. I had a wine, my son had a coke. only downside was the venue. it was like sitting in a classroom. not very intimate or visually appealing.
We learned a tremendous amount from the presentation. Maiko-san answered all of our questions and because we were a small group, we got to ask lots. Her dance performance was beautiful and playing games was fun! The Kaiseki dinner was simple but yummy. The room itself was the only drawback — felt rather institutional with fluorescent lighting and lacking ambiance.
it was great I did not cancell this event, although the time of two events conflicted. well organized, professional host and beautiful Maiko! Awesome experience of getting knowledge of Japanese culture.
We paid the extra for front row seats with the Maiko experience and it was definitely worth it, especially when considering the upgrade wasn’t very expensive. we had the lunch offer and it was nice and presented beautifully. would recommend
There were only three of us and the event still took place. We thought that was really cool of the organizers, as the description actually said that it only takes place with a minimum of 7 people. The interpreter spoke very good English and overall the experience with the Maiko was a cool one. We were able to ask lots of questions and had great impressions :-)
