Luang Prabang is rich with the cultural heritage that Laos is so well known for. From its temples to its natural beauty, there is so much to explore within it that it would take days to experience it all. This tour will give you half a day in the city and will get you its most essential, vibrant temples and locations. The other half is spent on a journey to visit the famous Pak Ou caves and its surrounding villages. A pickup from your hotel starts the day and takes you to the Royal Palace Museum where some of Luang Prabang’s most fascinating artifacts are kept and protected. After this, you’ll go on a cruise over the Mekong River where you can take a break, breathing in the fresh air and taking in the tranquil countryside view. You will then arrive at the Pak Ou caves, which are known for the hundreds of Buddha statues within it. Left by devotees on a pilgrimage, the Buddhas are of all shapes and sizes. Your next stop is at Ban Xanghai village where you’ll see villagers producing their own rice wine. At Ban Phanom, another nearby village, you will see villagers doing hand weaving. Both rice wine and weaving are essential products in the villages’ industry. After lunch, you will head to Wat Xiengthong, which is a testament to classic Laoatian architecture and is best known for its low-sweeping roofs and refined design. After this, you’ll not only visit the Traditional Art and Enthonology Center, but also get the chance to look at the night market, where you can see the local products being sold as parting of the villages’ economy. This is the perfect time to grab some souvenirs before you head back to your hotel.

Reviews
A comprehensive tour to Ban Xang Hai, Pak Ou Caves and several main temples of Luang Prabang, plus two-way Mekong river cruise. Our guide has good in-depth knowledge and very good at English, we had an amazing day trip.
my guide who's name I unfortunately can't remember but have got a photo of in this review was absolutely stunning!! a little shy at first but super friendly and very knowledgeable about all the stops we went to. The day didn't feel rushed at all and was a lovely pace. Great activity to get to know the area.
This was an amazing and interesting tour: Mekong River Cruise, cave of Buddhas, Palace Museum, temples and Old Town Luang Prabang. Our guide, Mr Sak, was far and above one of the best guides we have had a chance to spend the day with. He is gifted with knowledge, a great memory, a great sense of humor, and an easy way about him. At every locale he shared information about the places, historical facts, and answered every question we had. We loved this tour. The cruise was relaxing but also we saw birds, Asian elephants and children on their way to school—on boats! Everything we saw, experienced, and tasted was brought to a new understanding through this tour and our guide Mr. Sak. The local lunch we had was at a restaurant located along the Mekong River. It had a great view of the river, boats, barges and ferries. The food was excellent with offerings of rice, vegetables, and a soup. The main course we chose was water buffalo sausage and a whole deep fried fish. It was absolutely delicious. It also fortified us for the afternoon walking tours of the Museums, temples, and Old Town.
The guide is very knowledgeable of history and speaks excellent English. We have enjoyed this trip so much more because of his explaination of each destination.
The itinerary was well arranged. You can enjoy the natural scenery by yourself, but the cultural scenery needs explanation. Phout, who led our group, was very responsible, kind and friendly. The few days of Laos trip were illuminated by him. We have a very specific understanding of the people in Laos, no longer just a glimpse. Thank you Phout for explaining everything to us one by one and answering all our curiosity. Thank you for his careful care and smile like the sunshine of Laos. I hope Phout and his family will be safe and smooth.
Nom was our tour guide. he was very knowledgable and experienced. he brought us to nice places, told us about the histories of the place. top notch
It was an excellent day trip - we enjoyed the cruise down the Mekong River and also the lunch that was included with the package.
Having a guide really helps you understand this history and the meaning of landmarks in this beautiful area in Laos. From minute one, our guide was attentive and did a personalised tour for us. We thought we would be surrounded by other people, but we were the only ones. He picked us up at our hotel and went straight away with a Tuktuk to the river were we went to a boat and travel up the river to the Whiskey village and then the caves. On the way back we had our lunch by the river and then visited the museum palace and many temples. We walked up to the hill of the city. We really recommend this tour if you want to understand about this place, its history and culture. The guide told us many stories and legends that entertained us and made us feel more connected to this area.
Our guide was knowledgeable with good command of English. He was clear in explanation of the history, culture, as well as the traditional practices of making whiskey, mulberry paper and silk. It was an enjoyable and informative trip.
