Reviews summaryvery professional team that make you feel safe all the time. Everything is very well organized, own locker, sitting place, and clear instructions throughout. Snoker in 2 different reef site, spotted 2 turtles, soft colourful corals and hard corals.
This company is Down Under Cruise & Dive, and the boat is the Evolution. The first dive site will be either Saxon or Norman Reef, and the second will be Hastings Reef. Lunch is excellent, with steak, fish, shrimp, and salad. On the return trip, there will be cheese, crackers, and a glass of red/white wine. The overall itinerary is well-organized, and although there are many tourists (150+), it doesn't feel chaotic. Safety measures are good, with lifeguards monitoring and headcounts taken before leaving each site. Staff constantly patrol and ask if everyone is okay. Scuba divers are seated on the second level, while snorkelers are on the first. Certified divers can purchase a second or third dive ($80). Certified divers will be led by a dive guide, which is mandatory, so there's an on-site payment required ($10). The boat sells motion sickness medication, beverages, alcoholic drinks, waterproof phone pouches, etc. The staff all speak English, so it's best to have a certain level of English proficiency.
was truly an amazing day, a dream I’ve had for a very long time and the amazing team were able to make that come true! special thank you to Dom and Mike who were our diving instructor and main guide, really appreciate you both! the weather wasn’t great but the team kept the whole atmosphere high! the food wasn’t anything amazing, really tough steak, but nothing to really complain about! thank you again team! lots of love, #81 & #82
one of the best experiences I've ever done in my life. the check in was super simple. they really take care of you. we did snorkling all day but you could up for an introduction scuba dive with no experience needed. but do make sure you do this 24h before your flight. safety was there number one priority and you get complimentary coffee and tea while you waited to get taken out to the reef. and lunch was also included which you will definitely appreciate after a couple of hours of snorkling. you can also opt for a helicopter tour at the second location and they also have a marine biologist that will do a private tour to teach you all about the reef. But honestly the spots they took us out to has so much marine life and you will not be dussapointed. I sure wasn't and I'm so happy I booked with these guys so I could tick off my bucket list. super super recommend and I will definitely book again with these guys.
SCUBA diving can be a bit challenging for the first time. First, ensure the following safety measures: 1. Disclose any medications you are taking, aside from birth control or motion sickness medication. (Some chronic medications may require a doctor's authorization for diving.) 2. Allow 18 hours between a dive and flying. Service details: 1. Transportation to the pier is not included. You are responsible for getting to the pier for check-in. 2. We recommend taking motion sickness medication. If you don't have any, it is available for purchase on board. 3. A simple breakfast and lunch are provided on board. 4. Wetsuits are available for rent. 5. We provide personal fins, diving masks, and storage compartments. There are also shared life jackets available for snorkeling. After boarding and before departure, you will need to fill out a safety notice and health questionnaire. Then, our staff will explain how to use the diving equipment. Once the boat is anchored, you can snorkel and free dive from the back of the boat. SCUBA diving is done in groups. This tour includes stops at two dive sites. Before your SCUBA dive, you will practice on the side of the boat. Then, the instructor will guide you, hand-in-hand, to depths of approximately 10 meters or more. However, first-time divers are not allowed to bring photography equipment. A dive photographer will take photos for everyone. The staff are very helpful, and the Great Barrier Reef is well worth the experience.
We had a great time on our full day reef cruise. The entire crew was incredible. Absolutely all crew but especially the snorkel team/ guides. They were pulling people around the reef and keeping everyone safe. I cannot thank them enough for how amazing they made this experience for us. The weather wasn’t great, keep in mind it’s a rough trip out there on a windy day. We took sea sickness medication before the trip and had no worries. They sell it on board (definitely get it when they recommend it). They also offer prescription snorkel masks free of charge, the minimum prescription is 2.5. If you’re looking for an intimate/ smaller group, this tour isn’t for you. There’s lots of people at all different levels of swimming/ snorkelling. It’s managed well, though if you need a snorkel guide, be prepared to wait (they are worth it though). (Credit to the photographer for the beautiful underwater photos)
The entire experience, including both snorkeling and introductory dive was excellent. The crews on board were all very professional and friendly. Great weather, comfortable boat, and even better, beautiful corals at two reef locations of the Great Barrier Reef. Really enjoyed it and highly recommended it. Definitely hope to do it again next time!
It was great, highly recommended. the staff were really helpful and supportive, my wife’s been always scared of swimming and they got one trained person to be with her the whole time snorkeling. I dived twice be aware there’s only one dive including in the package. The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most amazing things I’ve seen in my life.
For snorkeling trips to the Outer Barrier Reef, you can also purchase deep dive and helicopter tours. Because during the Lunar New Year, the shipping company happened to have Taiwanese people, so we specially opened a Chinese explanation session. The service staff were super friendly and all the services on board were great. In addition to Chinese barbecue, there are also pastries, biscuits and other snacks, but if you are prone to seasickness, it is really not suitable to eat too much, as it will be very painful. Ocean-friendly sunscreen is also provided when snorkeling, and there are reminders and promotions in the ecological conservation part. It is quite a good culture. However, if you want to see sharks and turtles, you have to try your luck. This time, you can only see them. It was a pity to catch a big blue fish.
Great experience! It’s a must to include this your itinerary . Though is a wet season, the weather was kind to us when we travel out to the Great Barrier Reef. Had snorkelling , intro diving to see the amazing creatures and a ride on the helicopter for the view!
