What to expect
At Sushi Sanyo, start with a 30-minute introduction to sushi’s history, Northern Kyushu seafood, and regional soy sauce culture. Then take part in a 60-minute hands-on session, learning to prepare sushi rice, slice fresh fish, and shape nigiri under a skilled chef’s demonstration. Conclude with a 30-minutetasting to compare your sushi with the chef’s, and receive a certificate.
At Kadota Lantern Shop near Nakasu-Kawabata Station, paint your own white paper lantern with artisan guidance and take it home in a special box. In the evening, enjoy a yatai mini tasting featuring gyoza, tonkotsu ramen, and a drink.
On Day 2, cook seasonal washoku dishes in a 3-hour home class, then explore 650 years of Noh theater with Master Tetsuro Morimoto and step on stage to learn its refined movements.
