What to expect
Create your own Kanji art and take home a one-of-a-kind souvenir from Hiroshima.
This is a fully private calligraphy experience just for you and your group, where you can relax and enjoy at your own pace in a calm Japanese-style art studio.
STEP1: Using a high-quality calligraphy brush made in Hiroshima, you will learn the basics of Japanese calligraphy. STEP2: We will translate your name or a word you like into Kanji, explaining the meanings and choosing characters that suit you. STEP3: In the final stage, you will turn your calligraphy into an original item such as a T-shirt, fan, or thick paper
The Japanese-style interior is perfect for photos and ideal for couples, families, and solo travelers.

It was a truly wonderful experience! I received such a warm welcome, and there was even a personal welcome sign! The workshop space is beautifully decorated, and they even offer tea! Chihuro is so welcoming! I felt right at home. We started by learning about the history of calligraphy, and then I got to learn and practice the various basic techniques. After that, we moved on to choosing a suitable word/name and the item I would use to embellish it. First, we practiced the individual kanji again, and finally, I wrote my word on the fan. Chihuro explained everything very well and encouraged me when I made mistakes. She patiently showed me how to improve! It was a wonderful workshop, and I highly recommend it to everyone. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to meet Chihuro! ❤️
We had a wonderful relaxing experience from start to finish with the welcome note at the entrance and green tea refreshments. Chihiro explained the history of calligraphy and was very patient with us all despite our less than perfect attempts. She was very encouraging and was a knowledgeable, patient teacher. I would recommend this experience to anyone.
We had a lovely afternoon with Chihiro. She was engaging and encouraging with areas to focus on. We learnt a little history of Kanji and Hiragana. i would have liked to stay and learn more. Tea was served in lovely cups. Directions to 2nd floor room were a bit tricky to follow as no signage seen. Walkwd from streetcar #1. Some stairs to climb. Art room was lovely. Very enjoyable.
