Asakusa Taiyaki Making
- Discover the charm of Asakusa while learning to make one of Japan’s favorite street sweets
- Create your own taiyaki and fill them with a mix of sweet and savory flavors
- Put your own spin on these fish-shaped treats, then capture them in photos before tasting
What to expect
Step into Asakusa, one of Tokyo’s most atmospheric neighborhoods, and discover the fun behind one of Japan’s beloved street sweets: taiyaki. Shaped like a fish and traditionally filled with sweet red bean paste or custard, these golden treats are a familiar sight around Japan.
In this hands-on experience, you’ll prepare the dough from scratch before cooking your own taiyaki using a traditional fish-shaped mold. With three pieces to make, you can experiment with different sweet and savory fillings and create your own favorite combinations.
Once your taiyaki are ready, take some time to photograph your creations before sitting down to enjoy them fresh. It’s a fun and creative way to experience a taste of everyday Japanese food culture in historic Asakusa.

Really a great and funny activity, the teacher was very dynamic and funny. The even let us try our fillings and made an authentic puerto Rican Taiyaki with guava and cream cheese.
such a lovely, unique activity! in less than an hour, we made 12 taiyaki, picking 2 flavors each person. the host was SO kind and was VERY prepared for photos and videos on our phones, so keep your devices out! loved it!
Had so much fun making taiyaki! Thank you to the staff for snapping pics while we made the taiyaki. The food was delicious! Something about that batter made it the best taiyaki I’ve tasted so far.
So much fun!! My teenage daughter and I had a great time making delicious Taiyaki we learnt about the history of this Japanese pastry and the hosts were lovely and sweet. The instructions on how to find the venue was very helpful, would definitely recommend
great experience! love it. suitable for all ages! everyone should try! easily accessible! staff was very friendly
A brief and pleasant experience. The cupcakes are truly delicious, and the staff on-site were nice.
This is such a unique experience for my family. We had so much fun making it from start to finish. The staff there are very friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend this activity for everyone. We had apple pie, curry, okonomiyaki, sweet potato, kim chee and custard fillings in our Taiyakis, but they have many more choices to chose from.. It is easy to get there using Google Maps. It was a 3 minute walk from Tawaramachi Station (Metro subway) and 8 minute walk from Asakusa Station (JR). I would recommend taking the JR only because you get to walk through Nakamise to go shopping on your way there. I highly recommend this activity while in Tokyo.
Thank you, the boss is enthusiastic and guided, it is worth the experience
