Guide

  • Origin of Name: "Badaguan" initially referred to eight roads named after famous Chinese passes (Shaoguan Road, Ningwuguan Road, Zijingguan Road, Wushengguan Road, Jiayuguan Road, Zhengyangguan Road, Juyongguan Road, and Shanhaiguan Road). Later, the name became a general term, also including Hangu Pass Road, Linhuaiguan Road, Rongcheng Road, Zhengyangguan Branch Road 1, Zhengyangguan Branch Road 2, Zhengyangguan Branch Road 3, Huanghai Road, and other roads that make up the district.
  • Villa Complex: Badaguan has more than 300 villas, mostly built by Chinese and foreign politicians and wealthy merchants in the early 20th century. Today, many are sanatoriums for work units and residences for government agencies, and there are also many private catering, beauty, and fitness shops. Huashi House is a typical architectural style here. Marshal's House, Princess House, Badaguan Auditorium, VIP Building, and Diaoyutai (Fishing Terrace) are also well-known buildings.
  • Ornamental Flowers and Trees: Various streets in Badaguan are planted with different trees, each forming a unique scene: in spring, Shaoguan Road is full of blooming peach blossoms; in summer, Zhengyangguan Road is full of crape myrtle blossoms; in autumn, Jiayuguan Road is beautiful with maple trees; and Zijingguan Road is lined with evergreen cedars all year round. In addition, there are French parasol trees on Shanhaiguan Road, ginkgo trees on Juyongguan Road, Chinese flowering crabapple trees on Ningwuguan Road, and Chinese juniper trees on Linhuaiguan Road.
  • Badaguan is the general name for more than a dozen intersecting roads in the southern part of Qingdao city, most of which are named after famous Chinese passes.
  • The environment here is quiet and secluded. In spring, peach blossoms bloom; in summer, crape myrtle flowers bloom; in autumn, ginkgo and red maple trees line the roads. There are also many villas in various national styles, making it a popular photography destination.
  • Here, you can enter the "Huashi House" in the style of a European castle to visit and climb to the top to overlook the sea, or view the Japanese-style building "Marshal's House" where the founding marshals lived, and the Danish architecture "Princess House" with a beautiful love story, etc., which makes you feel like you are in a corner of Europe.
  • If you continue south from here, you can walk to the seaside, which is the Second Bathing Beach with fine sand and clear water, a good place for swimming in summer. The beach and Badaguan complement each other, forming the typical "red tiles, green trees, blue sea, and azure sky" characteristic landscape of Qingdao, making it a must-experience place in this city.
