What to expect
Join a hands-on sushi-making class in a cozy home kitchen near Ikebukuro, led by Chef Kodaira—a seasoned pro with over 10 years of experience at a kappo-style restaurant. With help from an English-speaking interpreter, you'll learn how to make sushi rice and prepare three classic types: nigiri, gunkan maki, and maki rolls, using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
You'll also enjoy miso soup and pick up tips on sushi etiquette, like proper soy sauce use and chopstick manners. After the meal, the chef will take you to a local supermarket and introduce his favorite ingredients and seasonings, giving you tips to recreate authentic Japanese flavors at home.
