What to expect

If you’re mounting the Himalayas for the first time, this four day, three night adventure is perfect for you as you walk one of the oldest hiking trails in the region. Day one starts with your departure from Haridwar that takes you on the long 256km journey to Joshimath, passing a number of cities and beautiful landscapes. In Joshimath, you’ll settle into your hotel for dinner and rest as you hear the all-important briefing from your trek leader. Day two begins with your trip towards Dhak Village, which is a 12km drive. It’s in this village itself when your actual trek begins, as the trail heads you towards Tugasi Village and ultimately the Guling campsite. The ascent is gradual and at the campsite itself, you can enjoy dinner and rest to prepare for Day three. This day takes you to the Khulara campsite, which is a 6km trek away. The campsite in itself is a natural wonder: vast, and decked by forests of rhododendron, pine trees, and oak trees, with picture-perfect streams. From Khulara, you’ll begin your travel to Guling campsite, where you’ll settle in. Take in the surroundings and acclimatize yourself and get rested, as you head for Kuari Pass bright and early. The climb becomes steeper and moderately challenging during this leg of the journey, but after overcoming these passes, you’ll have a level 5km trek all the way to the pass. Once you reach the viewpoint, you can revel in your success and take in the views, admiring the glorious beauty of the peak before you head back down to Guling for dinner and a good night’s sleep. Day five closes out your adventure, taking you back to Dhak Village, then Joshimath, and then the 256km journey back to Haridwar.
