Reviews summaryUnforgettable experiences that everyone should try if the weather allows. We were lucky enough to reschedule after our original trip was cancelled due to bad weather. The staff, the pilot, and our guide Jimmy were all super helpful and professional, making the hike a truly pleasant memory for us. Thanks a mil!
I really recommend joining their tour! The pre-trip instructions at the beginning were very detailed. All the equipment was complete and clean, so you didn't have to bring anything with you. The helicopter seats and groups were carefully arranged (the seats for the outbound and return trips were swapped), and the helicopter was also very new. The on-site glacier tour guide was friendly and professional 👍, and took us to explore the ice cave. We were lucky that it was sunny that day, but the temperature was still very low. It would get hot after walking around. It is recommended that you bring sunglasses, the sunlight is very glaring and the ultraviolet intensity is off the charts, so be sure to apply sunscreen! I think this trip is worth it, the icebergs are magnificent and full of memories💯
Excellent service and a trip that ticks more than one box off the adventure list. The helicopter ride was so scenic, the pilot flew us very close to the top of the mountain for some great photos. The glacier walk itself was not too tough, and expertly led by their very experienced guide, Paul. Definitely a day to remember. In addition, we had parents with us who are near 70yo! So definitely friendly for the older and capable!
great experience and amazing view on the glacier, we hiked to an ice cave. The operator provides warm layers if needed. We felt very safe flying and hiking with them
We drove to Mount Cook Airport that day and found that there were three registration offices. After asking at two of them, we registered at the third one. It was not that I didn't check the names on the registration form, but the names were almost the same and it was difficult to confirm without asking. After checking in, we measured our weight, filled out the safety confirmation information, and then were divided into weight groups (two helicopter groups), put on identification bracelets, and waited for the pre-trip explanation and putting on equipment. Windproof trousers, windproof jackets, down jackets, woolen hats, thick waterproof gloves, thick cotton socks, snow boots, trekking poles, crampon shoe covers, a limited number of sunglasses (you take your chances with the style), waterproof backpacks, sunscreen, etc. are provided on site; before departure, we told you that it would take about 40 minutes to get dressed; the rest after getting on the snow depends on your luck that day and on following the guidance of the tour leader!
The pre-trip briefing was clear and detailed. Boots, crampons, and hiking poles were provided. We took a helicopter to land on the glacier. The guide led us to explore the glacier and ice caves, with rich explanations. The magnificent scenery was unforgettable. Highly recommended to participate when visiting Mount Cook!
An absolutely unforgettable adventure! Walking on the Tasman Glacier was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The landscape was breathtaking, and being surrounded by the pristine ice and towering mountains felt surreal. What made the experience even more special was our fantastic instructor, Hunter. His guidance was top-notch—clear, informative, and delivered with genuine passion. We felt safe and well-prepared the entire time. The explanations about the glacier, its formation, and the surrounding environment added so much depth to the journey. If you’re considering this tour—do it. It’s a magical blend of natural beauty, adventure, and education. Highly recommended!
The tour guide Rich is awesome. Taking us to experience the whole amazing journey. We were so lucky because of the sunny day. All the ice and sky were crystal clear. Fantastic and worth it! The tour guide Rich was super professional. He taught us a lot and had a very good control of time. We experienced walking on the ice ladder, exploring the ice cave, watching the waterfall and drinking glacier water. It happened to rain heavily the day before, so we experienced a cloudless sky. We were so lucky and it was a natural feast that was worth it!
The provided equipment was quite comprehensive, the ground crew explained everything in great detail, and the helicopter was very new. Once we reached the glacier, our hiking guide, Hunter, was humorous and engaging, giving us a complete and enjoyable experience. Thank you to the entire team for their efforts!
You must experience glacier hiking once in your life, drink glacier water and eat ice cubes. The helicopter flight time is 12 minutes one way, and the glacier hiking time is 2 hours. There are waterproof boots and crampons. There are also down jackets, waterproof jackets, gloves, thick wool socks and backpacks of your choice. The guide Ana took us to explore the amazing ice formations and ice caves. After the trip, we took a helicopter back to the base.
