Kompong Phluk Floating Village Half-Day Tour
Important Note: The end of March to the end of June is a crucial time in Kompong Phluk floating villages, as the water levels start to recede and present a unique opportunity for tourists to experience a new perspective. Although the picturesque landscape of the floating community may lose some of its charm during this time, visitors have a chance to immerse themselves in the daily life of the villagers living in the dried season. While some boats may become stuck, and smaller canoes are unable to traverse the jungle forest, these challenges add to the thrill of the experience. The dry season in Kompong Phluk may not be the ideal time to visit for those seeking postcard-perfect photos, but it offers a chance to witness a facet of the village’s daily life that is not typically seen. As they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. We encourage travelers to embrace this rare chance to witness a different facet of this incredible destination and truly get a different taste of life in Kompong Phluk.

Our tour guide was Tola. I think there were about 18 people in total. I was the only Japanese person, and the rest were from English-speaking countries or countries where people speak English fluently. I can speak some English, but if you're not confident in your English skills, it might be a bit difficult. The explanations were all in English, of course, and even the decision of whether or not to take a boat through the mangroves was handled with a simple "Anyone here by themselves want to ride?" So if you didn't raise your hand, you wouldn't have been able to ride. There was one other person who wanted to ride, so the two of us went together. It's apparently $11 per pair. Only four of us on the tour took the boat, but it was worth it. At first, I thought it was just going to be a continuous ride through the mangroves, and I wondered if it was really necessary, but the best part was going near the homes of people who live on the water. Before that, we walked around the town a bit, but it was a quick tour with everyone together, so it wasn't very satisfying. So I was glad we could get closer by boat. The people who didn't take the boat just sat and waited in front of the same shop for about 30 minutes while we were on the boat. Tola's guidance was easy to understand, and I learned a lot of new things, so it was great. He also asked if we wanted him to take photos. Thank you :)
The trip to Tonle Sap Lake is really impressive. The tour guide is very good and friendly. Along the way, he explains patiently, which makes the whole journey much better. The sunset here is extremely beautiful. The afterglow shines on the lake surface, like a wonderful painting. And the houses on the water are very interesting. Here, one can enjoy the beauty of nature and also feel a different kind of life. It is really a very good travel experience.
This tour was my best memory since coming to Siem Reap. The children in the village were very friendly and cute. I felt the best of the rainy season in Siem Reap. Our tour guide, Mr.Ra, was very friendly and funny. He patiently treated me, even though I am not good at English, and I felt very comfortable. There were only two of us on the tour that day, including me, but thanks to Mr.Ra, it was a very enjoyable experience. He taught us how to eat the fruits in the village and made us laugh with his jokes. I think it would be a great success if you go on a tour with him. Thank you very much.
We were lucky to have Touch Chanty as our guide was such amazing guy! Caring to all the group members and took great photos and timely sharing with us. He also helped to take care of my youngest son to get the best experience. He explained everything clearly and made the tour so wonderful to enjoy!
The tour was amazing. Our English speaking tour guide Pip was very energetic and funny and made the experience memorable. He provided us with many interesting insights about the local food, culture and development of the areas. He also took phenomenal photos and pointed out all the interesting photo opportunities. The market visit was great, he even facilitated a small tasting for us and the subsequent cruise through the floating village was phenomenal. Definitely worth the price!
The tour guide, Ry was very professional and very knowledgeable. He even gave us a view of the locals food market that is such an eye-opener for a modern people like us. The floating village will reflect on our daily life to remind ourselves to be grateful with what we had.
Pick up from hotel was punctual. Ride was smooth. Guide Touch Pheap, can speak good English and was able to provide information about the life on the village. Took a small boat to the island. Along the way can see the houses on stilts. On the island just spent some time walking around. Good to see that the kids are provided free English lessons. Heart warming to see the children so enthusiastic about their learning. There is an optional mangrove tour costing USD5 each person. At around 5pm, the boat took us out to the middle of the lake to watch the beautiful sunset. Overall it is a good tour to see another side of life in Cambodia and watch beautiful sunset.
Pls request for mr chuop as the tour guide. i'm a solo traveler & all of my photos was taken by him. He is friendly & knowledgable. We rode a big boat & life jacket was provided. It is recommended to do the tour on october when the water level is high & u will see the village kinda floating. Tour will stop at the mangrove & optional ride to the mangrove with a small boat for 5$ for 1 pax. Before we head back to siem reap town, we were heading to middle of the tonle sap lake to watch sunset. Do not miss this experience when u visiting siem reap
The tour was accurate and very meaningful. I thought about taking a tuk-tuk, but it was quite far from the city and the boat fare was expensive for a single person, so I decided to take this tour instead. As a result, the cost performance is also good and correct. There were many Westerners and I was the only Japanese person, but everyone, including the guide, was very kind. I'm not good at English, but I had a good time there. On the way, there was an optional 20-minute two-seater kayak tour (USD 6) that we took, but if you were alone, you could reserve it for yourself, which was also the right choice. We were lucky that the weather improved after we arrived at the lake. I think I'll come with my family next time.
Definitely a must do experience and something different from visiting the temples and exploring the central city area. This tour allows you to experience the real authentic vibes of a khmer villager in the rural area, an eye opening experience. There is also a pit stop for Cambodian’s art, mangrove ride and a sunset boat ride (evening) that tops up the experience 👍🏻 definitely a 5 star experience. Shout out to Try Dara, our guide, who explained to us more about Cambodia and constantly takes nice photos!
