It was a beautiful experience to dress up and walk in kebaya nyonya on streets of penang. Time Tunnel studio helped us pick prettiest designs and did our hair very well. I recommend this to everyone to experience local culture and honour the peranakan heritage.
It was absolutely wonderful. The staff were kind, and my hair was styled beautifully. I didn't want to take off the clothes, so I kept taking photos until 5 PM. I'd love to experience it again. If you come to Penang, you should definitely try it!
I bought an outdoor photography plan, which was supposed to last 45 minutes, but I ended up taking street photos with the photographer for an hour and a half. All I can say is that the photographer is not only very professional, but also keeps teaching a girl who doesn't know how to pose. He is a cheerful, talkative, and professional photographer with high demands on photography. When we returned to the store, the proprietress enthusiastically introduced traditional clothing and accessories, coupled with her family stories, which was refreshing and beneficial.
I had a really good experience here as a solo traveller. The location was easy to get to by Grab, and even the cafe staff downstairs were helpful in pointing me to the studio. June, who did my hair, was super thoughtful — she moved me closer to the AC because of the heat and gave great advice on colour matching. The founder was also very welcoming. There’s a great variety of outfits and accessories to choose from, and the photographer made it easy for me as a newbie by guiding my poses and expressions. I also appreciated that we didn’t have to walk far since the photographer drove us to the outdoor spots. Overall, it felt warm, personal, and very enjoyable — a hidden gem in Penang. Give it a try for yourself!
I love the feeling walking in Geogre town with the traditional dress, it is great cultural experience i ever had. The clothes are new and clean. Staff is there to assist to choose most suitable Kebaya for us and advice to match the colour with the sarong. The hair is beautifully made. The shop is located at level 2 with a Cafe at level 1, we also enjoyed having our coffee.
Location: In the city center, easy to find and won't get lost. Experience: Quite good, but there aren't many color options for larger sizes. Equipment: Clothes are clean and odorless.
The experience at the studio is exceptional. Spent 15 mins selecting and trying out sizes and colours. The two ladies at the studio made good recommendations. Bright lacy pink for the top and an equally colourful green batik bottom to experience the peranakan costume in full display. The dolling up completed with hairstyling and accessories, almost making the whole experience like a wedding shoot! It was a hot and sunny day taking photos and visiting places of interests. The photos (using iPhone) turned out extremely impressive and made the trip in Penang ever memorable. The clothes were very clean, new and respectable. Friendly staff also gave great tips on where to go for shoots and great food too!
Good to come earlier about at least 30mins ahead of your timing. My package didnt include makeup and have to top up 30rm for it which was super worth it. they were so attentive to your overall outfit, makeup and hair. Photographer Michael gave us plenty of shots and suggestions, moving from indoor to street shots when it stopped raining. Felt like taking 2nd pre-wedding shots all over again. overall, nice experience, very friendly, staff will try their best to assist, thank you!
There's a beautiful selection of Nyonya clothing, and the staff will carefully give you suggestions for different pairings. Plus, the photographer is very patient in guiding you to strike various poses and taking beautiful photos. It's a great experience💖💖
Wonderful Nyonya Experience! 🥰 Rented a kebaya costume and got a traditional hairdo in Nyonya style at Time Tunnel Studio. The staff were very friendly and helpful in choosing the perfect color and style that suited me best (a lifesaver for those unsure about matching!). Loved the outfit and hairdo😊. Just let the staff know if you want a more modern hairstyle - they're happy to help. The booking and dressing process was easy and convenient. The location is very convenient, near Armenian Street and the jetty. The rental hours let us enjoy the late afternoon with beautiful sea views. The costumes were clean and well-maintained, with an impressive variety available for ladies, gentlemen, boys and girls, plus options of accessories to complete the look. Really enjoyed dressing up as Nyonya - worth it for the experience and photos!
