What to expect
This flight offers an unparalleled perspective of the natural beauty of Cairns. Cairns sits on a floodplain south of the mouth of the mighty Barron River. The Barron's headwaters start in Mount Hypipamee National Park at an elevation of 3,900 ft. The river flows across the fertile volcanic soils of the Atherton Tablelands and through the quaint village of Kuranda before cascading down the 850-foot-high Barron Falls and moving across the Cairns floodplains out into the Coral Sea.
Depending on the length of the flight, you will ascend up the Great Dividing Range and wonder at the mighty Barron and Stoney Creek Falls, as well as Lake Morris. You will pass over the world-famous Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and around the village of Kuranda before turning for the coast.
