GoodStayed with family · For friends and family
For a very compact room with 4 beds without bathroom, charge $400+ including tax per day is a rip off.

This is right in the centre of Amsterdam and close to all the party venues. If that is what you’re looking for then it is a good overnight location. However, I was misled by the reviews which were overall highly positive. This is accessed via a very busy sports bar. There were no kitchen facilities. Importantly, it was very hot when I was in Amsterdam. There was no air-conditioning in the room. It made for a very unpleasant stay and I hardly slept. The room was extremely hot and humid beyond anything I’ve experienced before, and I have travelled the world. There were lots of people in the room keeping others awake at night. While that is not the fault of the hostel per se, it gives a sense of the type of environment in which guests are going to potentially sleep. What is in the control of the hostel is to put air-conditioning in the rooms.

Very central location to sights. Great bar and live music from band Any Weird Stuff.
Great crowd. Facilities more than acceptable for the cost and benefits.

I accepted that it was a hostel in a vibrant area and there was a bar right downstairs so noise was expected. What I didn’t expect and didn’t understand is why there was constantly something slamming into the building every 20 seconds at 3am which made my bed shake over and over again for hours. I told the receptionist downstairs and he wasn’t very helpful because he said he was going to send security but like I said it was 3 in the morning and the other girls in the room were sleeping and security shouldn’t disturb them. I also think security should try to help manage noise levels overall in the street to a certain extent because at 2:30am there was a drunken girl outside our window who had been shouting for over an hour and someone with authority ought to have told her to calm down on a Monday night. Chatter is fine, constant shouting is different. At least they offer free earplugs!

I really enjoyed this spot. The restaurant/ bar downstairs was a big perk. The staff was very nice when I had dinner there and then coffee in the morning.
In the future, I would stay here but there are different parts of the hostel. The interior space has an elevator and closer proximity to the bar. I stayed in the 10-person room, which had to be accessed by going out and entering a separate space up many many stairs. The stairs were very steep and the front desk staff who checked me in took my bag up for me, even after I declined the help because he knew what I didn't. Then the same staff member came all the way back up to bring me my passport I had forgotten. I am sorry he had to but so grateful to him for doing it. The room itself had two showers and two toilets, with two sinks seperate as well. The beds had curtains, which I am always grateful for. They had metal containers as lockers under the beds which you need your own lock for. The room was clean and a comfortable temperature. I wish they had laundry on site but instead the staff was able to give me directions to a place close by.
The hostel is very close to Amsterdam Centraal Train Station which made traveling around very convenient. Lots of options nearby. Great place to stay, I would return but then try to rent a place that got me inside the main building.

FantasticStayed with friends
Fantastic place, clean, fresh, and such lovely staff.
Breakfast is a little plain (continental, ham, cheese, fruit, cereal, bread and croissants) but for €8 can't complain.

GoodSolo stay
Unfortunately, I stayed during a heat wave, which is not the hostel’s fault, but it was so so hot in the rooms. My biggest concern was noise. My room was directly above the bar entrance and again, it was hot, so we had to keep the windows open (they only tilt open a crack, which didn’t do too much to let the air in anyway). Because of this, I could hear everything outside even through earplugs. If you’re a light sleeper be aware. Another thing to keep in mind at this hostel is there isn’t really any common space. Many hostels have a kitchen space or a seating area/lobby where people can hang out, but that doesn’t really exist here, besides the bar on the ground floor, but I felt bad to sit in there if I didn’t want to order anything. This hostel works as a cheap place to sleep as long as you don’t mind noise, but if you’re looking for a social hostel experience where you have the chance to meet other people that may not be so easy here.
