My stay at The Metropolitan in Delhi was an absolute disaster. there’s a complete lack of upkeep and incredibly poor accessibility.
The moment we stepped into the rooms, we were greeted by a dated interior and a damp, musty odor that made the space feel entirely unhygienic. The chair leather is falling off, the sofa and carpet are dull and worn. The issues escalated immediately with the room cards for both booked rooms failing to work; the hotel staff then made us endure an infuriatingly long wait and show a proof of ID just to get them replaced.
Inside, the room was stiflingly hot because the AC completely failed to cool the air, and the window was covered in repulsive black marks. To make matters worse, turning on the shower resulted in a shocking stream of brown, rusty water spitting out of the shower head.
The internet was painfully slow and restricted us to just two devices before greedily demanding payment for a new plan or extra speed, which is unacceptable for modern travel. I could only connect my phone and my travel partners phone and my computer was useless because we were at capacity of devices.
Furthermore, the bathroom design featured an incredibly thoughtless layout where the hair dryer was bolted to the bottom shelf below the sink; because it was attached so low, you couldn't even stretch it.
We cannot speak to the amenities as we did not use them over our one night stay. All we wanted was AC and wifi, and those basic necessities weren’t met.
