Good
The property was well located clean and the employees competent and helpful. I was surprised that the room considered premium and at around $2,000.00 a night did not have a full shower. I also shocked at how thin and badly insulated the rooms walls were. I could actually hear the person sneezing in the adjoining room as well as their wake up alarm.

The hotel enjoys an excellent location and is rich in history. Unfortunately, its size appears to exceed what the current staff can effectively manage. While it is a historic French property operated by an American company, it seems to offer neither the refinement and attention to detail expected of a premier French hotel nor the efficiency and customer-focused service associated with a well-managed American hotel. In our experience, the level of service was closer to that of a four-star hotel, despite rates that exceed those of many five-star properties. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was its advertised private beach. However, we soon discovered that the beach is so small that only a limited number of guests can access it each day through advance reservations. During our two-night stay, the beach was fully booked throughout, leaving us no option but to use the nearby public beach. This was extremely disappointing. In effect, guests pay a premium for a beachfront hotel with private beach access but may receive no access at all. When we raised our concerns, we expected understanding or at least an apology. Instead, we were met with a dismissive response and a patronizing explanation of how hotels supposedly operate in "civilized countries." This was both inappropriate and unprofessional, and it left us feeling that our concerns were not taken seriously. The one aspect of our stay that truly stood out was the concierge service. It was very efficient.

Our stay was very disappointing overall. After a long day of traveling, we expected to check in at the advertised 4:00 PM check-in time, but our room was not ready until 5:30 PM. Waiting an extra 90 minutes after a long journey was frustrating, and what made it worse was the complete lack of concern from the staff. There was no meaningful apology, accommodation, or effort to make up for the inconvenience. Another major issue was the unpleasant sewer smell throughout the hotel lounge and hallways, which was noticeable during our stay and certainly not what you would expect from a luxury hotel. We had also been promised a garden-view room, but instead our room overlooked what appeared to be a large utility box, which was very disappointing and did not match what we had booked or expected. The one positive was that the room itself had been nicely remodeled. It was modern, clean, and well maintained, and housekeeping did an excellent job. Unfortunately, the delayed check-in, poor customer service, unpleasant odor in the common areas, and incorrect room view overshadowed the positives. I expected a much higher level of hospitality and attention to guests. Based on this experience, I would not choose to stay here again.
