Elegant hotel installed in a historic setting with a lovely garden with a haunting past. Indoor and outdoor pool and spa. Two restaurants at your disposal. Immaculate grounds and pleasant and attentive staff. Looking forward to staying again

Advertised as a premier romantic hotel, but the service is a massive disappointment. We stayed here for our 29th wedding anniversary and were met with completely indifferent staff. When we asked for empty glasses to toast our anniversary, they demanded a €15 service charge unless we fetched them ourselves—forcing my husband to walk through the hotel carrying glasses and putting forks in his pockets. The lack of care was astonishing; our checkout agent, Rafaela who also checked us in, didn't even bother to ask how our stay was at time of check out We canceled our dinner reservations at the property to avoid spending top euros on terrible service. If you want a warm, celebratory experience, avoid this hotel. They do not know how to treat guests.

Nice hotel, staff was nice and somewhat helpful: we would maybe be right this four star hotel because of its historic history. The rooms were nice.

Lovely place with romantic history. Really worth to walk the grounds and up the hill to get great views of the city

The staff in the bar restaurant was incredibly nice and helpful. We enjoyed touring the gardens. The breakfast service was VERY nice - the best we have had in Portugal. The drive to the hotel was incredible. The air conditioner was barely adequate for a very warm evening.

This is a very special property. Upon check in, we were told the legend of Pedro and Innes, a tragic and romantic story that allegedly took place here. This set the tone for our exploration of this grand and historic accommodation. The public lounges are exquisite, and the library is full of old-world charm. The gardens are moody and extensive, well worth a stroll. We dined in both their restaurants, and the service and food were flawless. Our reason for visiting Coimbra was to see the historic university. And although the university is exceptional, this hotel stole the show!

Enjoyed the stay. Walkable to the city. Staff gave us suggestions of what to do/where to eat. Food at the hotel was very good. I would recommend it.

Impressively old property that shows like a museum. The rooms require a bit of a refresh in the bathrooms and the cheap carpet does not match the rest.

We loved our stay here! Beautiful property and nicely updated rooms while maintaining the history of it. The warm pool, sauna and steam room were also really enjoyed!
