This property is in a great location next to the van Gogh Museum, and walkable to many parts of Amsterdam
Staff is phenomenal and the breakfast outstanding
We booked a small room and it was small, but we knew that at the time. Most of the other rooms looked to be very good sized.
There is an elevator, although some stairs have to be navigated to get up into the hotel.
Overall, this is an outstanding property made even more so by the staff

GoodStayed with partner
Really mediocre hotel priced like an upscale lodging. Toilet ran, sink drain was clogged, had to insist on a change of towels. Many steep steps from street to front door. Breakfast was very good and location excellent. Many better choices available in Amsterdam.

Careful on steep stairs and be prepared for multiple trips up small elevator if you have multiple suitcases, but otherwise was a great hotel. We enjoyed our stay and great location.

Location is great, especialy if you're visiting the museums or shopping for Gucci bags. But this is just rooms in a house - no lobby or service, just one young dude who shows up if you press a buzzer. Despite that there is nothing to run up a bill with, they demand a 150E deposit. Hopefully they'll return it promptly...

FantasticStayed with friends
First - let's acknowledge the "Cozy" double is small. There's barely enough room to walk around the bed. There are two folding chairs provided but I'm not exactly sure where you're supposed to be able to set them up. (I used them to hold my suitcase because there's really nowhere else to put it). But - other things matter a lot more to me than room size: cleanliness, sleepability, breakfast, staff, cost and most importantly, location. Hotel Fita excelled at all of these.
Although the room is small, the bathroom was surprisingly large - especially the open shower which had ample hot water and water pressure. The staff was terrific - I could not have asked for more. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well each of the three nights. And the location was perfect for me: walkable to the museum district and Concertgebauw; on public transit lines to both Centraal Station and the airport, in a safe, quiet neighborhood (it's near a school playground so you hear children playing in the morning). The breakfast buffet (available for about 17euro) was among the best I've had anywhere. Well stocked, wide variety of hot and cold choices, excellent coffee, friendly staff. Absolutely worth the price.
So, there's no downside - except possibly the size of the room. But if you want a large room, just pay a little more and upgrade to a larger room at Hotel Fita. Hotel Fita was a terrific choice and I will definitely stay there again when I return to Amsterdam.

Below averageSolo stay
The basement/ground floor room had a terrible smell and felt damp. Maybe upper rooms were better, but this room was unpleasant.

We traveled to Amsterdam to celebrate my husband’s 80th birthday, and since he’s an artist we wanted to be close to the major museums. Hotel Fita was perfectly situated on a quiet street with a short walk to the museums we wanted to visit. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable with a nice view and having a breakfast room made for an easy start to the day. While we mostly walked to all our destinations, the train and metro stops were also readily accessible. We loved our stay
