Fantastic

The Hinanosato was renovated about 6-8 years ago and it is an amazing place to stay - the decor is heavy on 60's themes which gives it a mellow / laid back feel. The staff are great, the breakfasts were wonderful and our room had a spectacular view of the Mikuma river. Parking on site is very limited but they have a couple parking lots nearby that can be used. Highly recommend this hotel!

Staff was not friendly, first of all, then the room had something strange smell. The big bath was not like I expected. I’ve had experiences better than they have.

I stayed in a river view room. The view from the room was breathtaking. But the best thing about this hotel was the free massage chair. I almost fell asleep.

시설과 전망, 부대시설, 룸 컨디션 모두 만족했습니다. 숙소의 와이파이가 다소 불안정하고 느린 걸 제외하면 모든 면에서 만족스럽습니다.

The hotel has such an amazing view onto the river and of the surrounding area! All the staff were extremely polite and helpful all through out our stay and in assisting us with a last minute taxi trip.

I was charged USD300 per night to stay at a filthy so called hotel. First, the photos shown on Expedia were far from actual. The room wasn't bright and the room was very, very old and had insects in the tatami room. We actually killed a small spider by the door to the balcony (inside). Second, after we entered the room, we checked around, the open air tub in the balcony didn't have water running and when I looked up, there were dozens of spiders crawling around. There wasn't any other bathroom we could use to shower or bathe, we couldn't do it with spiders. Even though a day before I stayed at an onsen hotel with open air bath in the balcony, it wasn't anything like this. Third, there was very old and smoke smell when we entered the room. Felt like someone has smoked inside and no one had stayed for quite some time. Fourth, everything was old. Not classic, but old. Fifth, the room seemed haven't cleaned and not ready for stay. Even with all lights turned on, it was still dark and creepy with all above. How could you charge such price for this? I went to reception and told them I couldn't stay in a room with spiders. They offered us another smaller room with everything inside old and smelly, so I refused and left afterwards to stay another hotel. It was tiring as I checked in late at night and there wasn't any available room at nearby hotel so I had to drive 1 hour to Beppu to stay at a much cheaper but modern and clean hotel. Stay away from this "hostel".

I think that this property is for the family who has small children. The breakfast is like for kid’s menu. The staff were nice but we felt like we had a wrong choice.

Japanese Kitsch in the best of ways! The usual yukata and slippers and self serve amenities, but small touches like tiny cookies lovingly caressed by thin decorative paper in a glass jar (I didn't unscrew the little cap as they looked so cute), someone went to the trouble of placing a little rabbit sticker on the corner of the plastic bag containing a hair ties adorned with a pink plaid button, pink walls, slip in duvet sheets. Little whale stickers on the ground - big ones for bigs steps and small ones for small steps. Staff are absolutely lovely! Friendly, personable, great conversation with the barista/manager/general person who had great spoken English, other staff pretty good with combination of hand gestures and pointing and much smiling. Breakfast was good, open plan, with view of river, we didn't have dinner, but dining hall big with small areas divided for each group Onsen was cute, inside and small outside option, with dry sauna Coffee/lounge area further past check in counter and in-house store - All day home make cookies of several varieties - 3pm onwards - speciality coffee being made to order Rest of the time, self serve Collection of vinyl albums and reading area, also desk area Beautiful to watch sunsetting Not much security to speak of, can enter in from porch, but small town fell, lady left her wallet on the table and left the area
