The online advertising presents the property very well - but it lacks the ambiance of the images. Despite this the large studio suite felt a little dated. Kitchen accessories/utensils were very basic and would have appreciated a coffee pod machine. Laundry - washing machine had soap and lint encrusted in the dispenser and detergent was an extra cost. Basement parking was convenient. The salt water pool was good but the gym tread mill was broken and the other equipment was less than basic. Location to shops and beach is very good. Staff were helpful and polite. Overall a positive experience.

Had a wonderful 10 night stay at Shantara. We loved being so close to Macrossan st and the beach, while the pool was an amazing end to each day. The Hotel was peaceful, beautiful and quiet. As is normal for Far North Queensland, there is not everyday cleaning service but we don’t use that anywhere anyway. Plenty of parking, but if you didn’t bring a car everything is walking distance with shuttle bus options for longer journeys. The only black mark of the stay were our neighbours on the pool deck room who were obviously upset at having a queer couple nearby, so disappointing in 2026 but not the Hotels fault at all.

We stayed in a studio room. The bed was good & linen & towels & good to have the kitchenette. We were a bit disappointed in the overall offer. There are no onsite dining/cafe options so just the pool area. The room felt a bit small compared to other places we have stayed and some of the facilities were a bit worn. Overall it was expensive for the quality

Beautiful large apartment with balcony. overlooking the pool. Well equipped kitchen, lounge area, bedroom and bathroom. Laundry shared with apartment next door. Tropical plants at front of property and near pool area are amazing. Beautiful lighting at night. Property located close to Macrossan Street and walking distance to 4 mile beach.

Fantastic

Solo stay

The hotel is excellent and its location is in walking distance to many good restaurants, bars, and cafes. It is also less than five minutes to a netted beach which is ideal for a swim. I would highly recommend his hotel to anyone!!

Positives: Check-in was smooth, and the location was convenient with the added benefit of free parking. Negatives: When booking, I specifically requested a quiet room for our babymoon. Unfortunately, the room we were initially assigned was very noisy. The walls were extremely thin—we could hear conversations from other guests, traffic from the road, and even a washing machine running at 2am right outside our door. Given that occupancy appeared low, it was disappointing to be placed so close to other guests. As a result, I struggled to sleep for the first three nights. Being pregnant and also dealing with a cold, this significantly impacted our stay and ended up being the biggest letdown of the trip. After raising the issue with reception, we were moved to a room at the back of the property for the remaining nights. This room was much quieter, and I was finally able to rest. While I do appreciate the staff’s efforts to resolve the situation, it was frustrating that we weren’t allocated a more suitable room from the beginning. Overall, the resort felt overpriced for what it offers. Housekeeping is only provided at an additional cost, and the rooms and bathrooms are quite dated, with poor soundproofing.

Underwhelming. Pools were is constant partial shade by surrounding buildings. No daily service as advertised. Only 1 service during 9 night stay. No amenity pack- eg no shower cap, no body lotion. Not deserve 4.5 star rating. Positives- very spacious apartment and very quiet. Easy walking distance to Macrossen St.
