Great decor, really comfortable bed, very quiet even though the room faced the street. And the coffee was delicious!

We chose this hotel based on its reviews, and while they were generally accurate, there were a few things I wish someone had mentioned.
On the positive side, the hotel was spotlessly clean. Our room and bathroom were immaculate throughout our stay. Check-in was quick and easy, the staff were friendly and efficient, and the location was excellent for our needs as we wanted to be within walking distance of Penn Station.
The biggest surprise was the size of the room. We booked a room with a king-size bed, and while the bed itself was very comfortable, it felt as though the room had originally been designed for a single bed. We couldn’t fully open the wardrobe door, there was barely enough space to walk around the bed, and one side was pushed right up against the air-conditioning unit. Unfortunately, that unit was also quite noisy. None of these issues were deal-breakers, but they are the sort of things I’d have liked to know before booking.
My biggest complaint, however, is the so-called “resort fee.” This is a perfectly ordinary Midtown Manhattan hotel on a fairly uninspiring street. There is absolutely nothing remotely resembling a resort here. The fee wasn’t hidden during the booking process, so this isn’t about transparency;it’s about the principle. Calling it a resort fee is misleading and feels like nothing more than a way of increasing the final price. If the hotel needs to charge more, just include it in the room rate. At least then guests know the true cost upfront.
