Really heartless staff member ruined it for me. Worst possible experience at a hotel in my life. I’ve never been treated so badly anywhere.

I booked a room here bc I had been dealing with appointments and cancer surgery at OHSU and found out I needed an additional night between for an extra hospital visit. I booked another night and requested to stay in the same room by messaging through the app. They assured me that by paying a $15 fee they would be able to make sure I had the same room and didn’t have to move between nights. Important bc I had to go to the hospital early and would be in for the entire day into early evening. When I checked in, they verified but told me I’d need to come back to the front desk for a new parking pass as I left for my appointment in the morning. Instead of a pass, I was told my a young brunette woman that she would be having my stuff moved and charging me whatever applicable fees bc my room was reserved to someone else. She laughed in my face while I had a panic attack and started balling because I had to choose between losing my belongings and making it to my appointment. She kept a smile on her face and continued to tell me “that’s not how it works” when I tried to explain that I had arranged it with the other staff. Horrific service. Another staff member went to find a manager who eventually said, “just go I’ll take care of it.” So I showed up to OHSU a few minutes late to what was already a pretty sucky experience but even worse because I was still in tears and didn’t know if my stuff would be trashed or if I had somewhere to come back to. I’m embarrassed and disgusted.

Good
This place was very dated. Met our needs except breakfast. When we got to breakfast the dining room was full of ppl and one of the kitchen staff said ‘we are going to run out of food’ took a pic of all the guests to share w his manager. There was literally 20 ppl on n line for the waffle maker. I also hated that all the exterior doors locked and you could not enter but parked in the back. We did not use any amenities and the room was close to the rail cars so I could hear that run every 20-30 minutes. Sounded like a trash compactor truck.

Good
I did not see on the site through Expedia and I could have missed it but they charge for parking and for late check out even if it’s just 1 min after the hour grace period. So would have been nice to have those unexpected expenses on the Expedia site. Other than that it was ok their breakfast was carb heavy so not a lot of choices if you were to stay a long time

Great
Nice hotel with reasonable paid onsite parking, convenient access to downtown Portland via the Max station in front of the hotel, nice swimming pool, undersized and marginally outfitted fitness room, crazy busy light breakfast buffet (no cooked food), large rooms with nice, if soft mattresses, rooms include microwave and mini-fridge. Good free WiFi service. Overall excellent value with good comfort and amenities for downtown Portland, plus supports Portland University.
