Below average Don’t book with a third party site, I booked two rooms and when I got to the property they told me I only had one and the other wasn't paid for and it was on me to figure out.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Ash & 9th Hotel in San Diego.
I booked my stay over two weeks in advance. Before arriving, I called the hotel because my group and I are 20 years old and did not meet the standard age requirement to check in. I wanted to verify that we would still be allowed to stay before making the two-hour drive. The front desk employee I spoke with assured me that she would make an exception and noted my reservation so we would be able to check in.
When we arrived on the day of our reservation, the front desk agent was immediately rude and unhelpful. He told us we could not check in because the previous employee had forgotten to enter the proper hotel code. However, when he showed us the reservation, it was clear that she had documented the approval in the notes—she had simply failed to enter the required code. This was an internal mistake by the hotel, not ours.
I explained that we had driven over two hours based on the confirmation we were given and asked if there was any way to resolve the issue. Instead of trying to help or offering any solutions, he remained dismissive and rude. He simply said he was going to cancel our reservation, handed me the cancellation paperwork, and essentially told us to leave.
What made this experience so frustrating was not just the mistake itself, but the complete lack of customer service. We did everything we were supposed to do by calling ahead to confirm the age exception, yet we were penalized for

This is place is advertised as a boutique hotel, it’s not. It’s a motel. It’s in a scary part of town, it’s dirty, it’s not well-maintained. We pulled around the side and the maid had all the bedding on the parking lot asphalt. Couldn’t sit in the chair because it had who knows what all over it. It smelled terrible. There was light between our door and the doorframe, a lot of it. The workmanship was terrible. I think it’s important that people report this type of stuff. We would never had stayed here had there been honest reviews. Our stay was $300 a night. We expected something comfortable. This was very uncomfortable. We left as soon as we could in the morning.

This hotel is located downtown. It charges an extra $25 parking fee. It was not stated on the Expedia website. I didn’t notice these downsides when booking. For the same price, we can stay at motels in the suburbs with no extra parking charges and much safer neighborhoods without homeless loitering around.

This older place had great character. Native American oriented. The room was standard until you notice the full kitchen with fridge, freezer, microwave stove top and sink. There are even dishes, silver and pans in the cupboard. We weren't planning to cook, but if we were staying longer, we would have brought in things to prepare. We needed a late departure due to an early morning tour, and the staff was most accommodating. We also had a problem with an outside tour vendor and the young man at the desk was extremely helpful and patient with our confusion about how to solve the problem.
Not shining and gleaming but cozy and comfortable.

Great price the only down fall was that they charge $25 per day parking if not you get towed which should be included in your hotel stay. But other than that clean room good customer service easy to check in and out. 10/10 recommend.
