Great

Room was absolutely fine for what we needed, although the shower needed some contortions to get into. Main criticism is that the bed was so incredibly solid that it was painful. Aircon in the room was rather noisy but was just about sufficient to keep the room cool (quite a noisy central location, so there were double windows, but they could be opened if wanted). Great location though for accessing things and the staff were pleasant in the limited interactions we had with them.

The location of this hotel is very convenient, especially for travelers with an early morning flight. The self-check-in and self-check-out process was straightforward, and the staff member we met was very friendly, polite, and helpful. However, the biggest issue during our stay was the lack of air conditioning. We stayed during a very warm period, and the room became extremely hot and uncomfortable. As the building appears to be older, the ventilation was not very effective. Even with the window open, there was little airflow, making it difficult to cool the room down. Unfortunately, the heat made it almost impossible to sleep. We managed only about an hour of sleep before having to wake up and head to the airport. While the convenient location is a definite advantage, better cooling and ventilation would greatly improve the guest experience, especially during warmer weather.

Fantastic

For business

A colleague and I were running a course here and I must say the facilities, and service we received from all members of staff was top notch. We stayed three nights, our rooms were clean and comfortable, the shower room was - let's say - 'bijou'! Breakfast was hot and tasty. All in all we were very satisfied. One of the members of staff in particular - Ingrid - is an absolute legend!

It was cheap and basic and small room but it was fine for our purpose and we had no complaints. It didn’t have air conditioning but the air cooling was actually ok in the heatwave and we requested a fan as well. The slightly more mature woman on the desk was super helpful. The bathroom was tiny but ok for a quick shower. Would stay again if staying in the area and was cheapest.

Fantastic

We have stopped in most of the hotels in Birmingham over the years and so far this IBIS has been the cleanest, most friendly staff and the best value for money. Location is excellent for China Town, Grand Central, New Street Station & the Hippodrome as well as central Birmingham. We had a drink at the bar when we got in last night, and the staff could have been friendlier. Reception staff were also great. Comfortable bed, spotlessly clean bathroom, plenty of space. Will definitely stay again

So, booked this as its near to everything and it came with onsite parking which is good for my mobility impaired partner. In theory! The car park is underground and exceedingly narrow and a tight turn to enter which has led to damage to my car due to bins and other crap blocking the entrance area. It's got a low ceiling too for alot of the bays. Did arrive an hour early, and was bluntly told check in was at 3pm. No attempt to see if the room was ready or not. The room was OK but small, a stain on a brown carpet. Distinct lack of plugs in the room, only 1 near 1 side of the bed. The choice of hallway carpets made it seem dirty and dingy, the smell of weed wafting though open windows flooded our corridor. Overall seems to need a bit of a redecor. Textured wallpaper is not a good look but this seems to be an Ibis thing. Breakfast was great and the lady managing it was lovely and chatty with guests. A nice selection to cover all culinary tastes for a brekkie. Would we stop again, probably not. The secure onsite carpark & location sold it for booking, but on hindsight at £15 for 24 hrs id rather put it in an NCP, or another hotels parking deal. The parking facilities need to be described better and with pics. We drive a Kuga, not the smallest car I know, but not the biggest either. Sorry Ibis, but room for improvement and maybe a bit of courtesy from some of your staff when a mobility impaired guest walks in.
