Unlike what the description says. You continue the work of other participants, because the actual process takes 8 days. In the last step, you choose a spoon and chopsticks and make the finishing touches. And you take that with you. You learn every step and do the work for the next day for other participants. The man is very nice, explains everything, helps you with every step and shows you how to do it. He checks everything again and tells/shows you if anything needs to be improved. In the end you get a little surprise.
We attended the workshop with our instructor. The workshop is more about learning the process of how chopsticks and spoons are traditionally decorated. You still have a hands-on practical demonstration by him of how it's done and then you also get to lacquer your own spoon and chopsticks and apply mother of pearl. There are quite a few stages to preparing and lacquering the wood; and at the end of the session you get to take a pair of chopsticks and a spoon. This workshop is value for money. But you might find it a difficult place to navigate to. The instructors workshop is located on the second floor of a small industrial complex. At first glance you might think you're not in the right area, but his workshop is definitely in that complex. (NB: our family carefully plotted our navigation the night before using hotel reception staffs help. For us, this was essential).
A must-do experience!! The gentleman who runs the activity is incredibly kind! He speaks a little English but explains things by showing you, so there's no problem understanding! I recommend it 100%.
A little difficult to find (it’s the second gate entrance and then you need to go upstairs next to the toilets - you can see a giant “spoon” lettering on the second floor) but once there we were surprised to be the only two people doing the experience and the instructor was very nice walking us through all of the steps. Everything was provided and we were also provided with some metal chopsticks and a small bag, alongside a zodiac charm which was really nice
It was a fun, informative and memorable experience. The host has limited English but he did a good job explaining to us the steps and the reasons for them. You also get to keep a nice souvenir to bring home.
삼촌was very patient and guide the experience of making the spoon. It was fun learning how to the lacquered spoon and chops were made and learning the history of Korea in its making. Definite recommending this event. 👍👍👍
My entire family had a wonderful time (we have girls ages 7-14). the instructor was kind and patient with us and explained the process in great detail. we are excited to have such memorable souvenirs to bring back home. highly recommend! note that it can be a bit difficult to find the location so make sure to use a navigation app!
Such a fun experience. The gentleman who lead the class was so very kind and patient. It's an educational experience. You take part in various steps, but because of drying times, you take home what someone else started, which is pretty fun, as you get to uncover the choices of others. We really enjoyed it.
The person hosting the class was very informative and tried his best to conduct the class with the limited English he had. He made sure that my classmates and I understood what we did and the rationales behind the steps.
experiência maravilhosa! completamente diferente do tradicional. O senhor foi um querido, sempre dando ótimas instruções e explicando a história. adorei cada momento
