What to expect
Day 1, Paro to Thimphu Upon arrival, an English-speaking Guide will be waiting for you with Khadar Welcome. We will drive from Paro to Thimphu (driving distance is about 1.5hrs).
Visit Thimphu Clock Tower with four face clock adorned in Bhutanese Carvings. Explore Thimphu Town and the amazing night view of Tashichho Dzong or known as Thimphu Dzong where the King office is. The impressive building stands on the right side of the Wangchuk River. After the walk, head to the hotel to check-in and have dinner. Rest and relax for the evening.
Day 2, Thimphu - Punakha Start the day early with a hearty breakfast in the hotel, check-out and the adventure starts at BBS Tower! Also known as Sangayang Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS), and it runs the radio and television network of the country with a telecommunication tower built on the hilltop. Located at 2685m, it offers a beautiful view of entire Thimphu Valley.
Next, we will visit Buddha Dordenma Statue or commonly known as Buddha Point. This is the largest sitting statue of the Buddha in Bhutan. Followed by National memorial Chorten, another unique structure as the Stupa is predominantly white with spires of gold and was erected in 1974 in honour of the father of modern Bhutan, the 3rd King of the Country, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk.
Next, Simply Bhutan, where we can hands-on activities such as National Game – Archery, and savour local Bhutanese cuisine for lunch.
After lunch, visit Takin Enclosure during feeding time. Bhutan is a wildlife reserve area for Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. Originally a mini-zoo, it was converted into a preserve when it was discovered that the animals refrained from inhabiting the surrounding forest even when set free.
Enjoy a scenic drive from Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass. Dochula Pass is a beautiful mountain pass located between Thimphu and Punakha. This is a historical landmark and was built to honour the bravery and sacrifices of the Fourth King and the soldiers who perished during the battle against Assamese insurgents in 2003. On clear days, you may be able to spot Mount Jomolhari.
After that, check-in at the hotel, have dinner and rest for the evening.
Day 3, Punakha to Paro Have a hearty breakfast in the hotel, check-out and your journey begins with a visit to Chimi Lhakhang (also commonly known as The Fertility Temple). A popular Buddhist monastery in Bhutan, we will take a leisure stroll through the beautiful rice and mustard fields to the monastery. Built over half a millennium ago, this is one of the oldest monasteries in Bhutan. After that, have lunch in a local restaurant with beautiful rice field views.
After lunch, we will head to Punakha Dzong, the most beautiful Dzong in Bhutan and the second oldest one. To get there, cross the Bazam Bridge and be awed by the breath-taking views. Thereafter, visit the longest suspension bridge that measures 180m in length. From the bridge, get a spectacular view of the Po Chhu River and the valley as it connects to the village at the other end. An ideal place for a photoshoot with a stunning background, enjoy the cool and breezy vibes while on the bridge!
Followed by lunch and after lunch, we will take a scenic ride from Punakha to Paro.
Next, Paro Town a small and beautiful town with shophouses carved in Bhutanese carvings and the structure of an authentic Bhutanese house. Find locally made handcrafts along the shops, cafe and some eateries. We will spend some time at Paro Town, you may want to do some shopping for some souvenirs. After that, we will proceed to your hotel to check-in and have dinner. After dinner, we will rest for the evening.
Day 4, Hike up to Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Start the day with a hearty packed breakfast from the hotel as we head off early for the highlight of the trip. Hike up Paro Taktsang or commonly known as Tiger’s Nest, a scared Buddhist site located on the cliffside. Enjoy stunning views over the mountains of Paro Valley and its surrounding forests.
After the hike, we will proceed for lunch. After lunch, you may opt for a traditional Bhutanese Hot Stone Bath (about 60 mins) or return to the hotel to rest. Dinner in the hotel. After dinner, we will rest for the evening.
Day 5, Departure Have a hearty breakfast in the hotel. Free and easy till check-out. We will pick you up in your private vehicle with our Guide and send you to Paro International Airport for your departure flight out.
