What to expect
Join this exhilarating adventure, starting at either 9.15am pickup from Port (cruise ship guests only) or 9:30 from Wellington Station. The journey begins at Kaitoke with a gentle ascent through native bush, passing tunnels (Equipped with headlights!) and picturesque bridges. Immerse yourself in the history of the old railway system through informative boards. At the summit, relish a grassy plateau, perfect for a leisurely picnic or refreshing drink. The descent to Cross Creek in Wairarapa is both thrilling and easily manageable. Follow the path through stunning farmland, and we will pick you up at the Royal Hotel at 2:15pm. The operator retrieves you there, returning you to Wellington Station and concluding an unforgettable day.

Despite the wind and rain we had an amazing experience. An initial problem with the e-bike was resolved at the first stop (swapped bike), having an e-bike made the uphill bits easy and the scenery was awesome. Packed lunch was excellent, safety/repair kit and map provided, expandable panniers handy to stash change of clothes etc. Tip: don’t worry about the weather, but do bring raingear and a change of clothes and shoes.
