What to expect
Come along for a unique Korean rice wine tasting, hosted by Jay, a Korean liquor sommelier, and Sam, a certified Korean alcohol brewer.
Korean alcohol is so much more than just that familiar green bottle of Soju.
Makgeolli, a fermented and unfiltered (thus hazy) rice wine, is widely consumed, yet poorly understood, despite its popularity.
We've explored hundreds of Makgeollis across Korea, finding fantastic, flavorful bottles—many from small, local producers rarely able to reach a wider audience.
Our aim is to introduce you to the best Makgeolli in each category.
Our tasting takes place in a hidden backroom of a small, specialty rice wine shop.

it is a good place to have couples of drinks. I had great experience. if you take public transport, the closest station is Yaksu.
It was a pretty good itinerary and the wine tasted good. It was a pity to only provide documents for guests to see for themselves. However, if you ask questions, the person in charge will answer them patiently.
Sommelier Sam has good understanding on the various kinds of makgeollis and educate me on various factors such as geography, weather and yeast affects the taste. Was also offered a soju as complimentary tasting. Overall a good experience.
We had a fabulous makgeolli tasting session conducted by Sam. This was a small group session and Sam was able to engage everyone in our group. We had tasted 9 types of makegeolli. Thank you Sam for making it such a personal and fun session for us!
