What to expect
Qilai South Peak is one of Taiwan's 100 Peaks, ranked 39th, with a height of 3,358 meters. It belongs to the Central Mountain Range and is known as one of Taiwan's "Ten Majestic Peaks" due to its broad and expansive mountain body. Mount Nanhu, also known as Nenggao North Peak, is also one of Taiwan's 100 Peaks, ranked 74th, with a height of 3,184 meters, and belongs to the Central Mountain Range. Located at the border of Nantou and Hualien, Qilai South Peak and Mount Nanhu are the most accessible of Taiwan's 100 Peaks. The itinerary can be easily arranged as a traverse of both peaks, known in mountaineering circles as "Qilai-Nanhu." Enter via the "Nenggao Historic Trail," which has gentle slopes and excellent scenery, passing by the Yunhai Maintenance Station and the Three-Tier Waterfall. Stay overnight at the newly built Tianchi Lodge, and the next morning, hike lightly to the two peaks. The route will pass the Tianchi intersection, cross Tianchi and the arrow bamboo grassland, and then arrive at Qilai South Peak. If the weather cooperates, you can also see the magnificent sunrise and sea of clouds on the mountain.
Reviews
It is the rainy season, the heavy rain a few days ago caused the 0.3k road in Qilai Nanhua to collapse, the 10k road continued to fall, and the high-speed detour section was steep and slippery. After days of heavy rain, the geological relationship of Qilai Nanhua is relatively fragile. Based on safety considerations, 5/26-27 Qilai Nanhua needs to be canceled urgently.
Outsourced to the secret mountain forest, the team leader is very good. The scenery on the mountain is beautiful, you need to practice physical strength first
