Batik Painting Class at Five Art Studio in Ubud

The studio is about a 30-minute drive from Ubud city center, and it's a very peaceful place! The instructor guides everyone step-by-step. For this creation, you can choose from the studio's existing templates or draw your own design; I chose to create my own. The waxing process was quite challenging; you have to be very careful not to let the wax drip, but the instructor also helps with touch-ups later. Then, coloring was the most enjoyable part for me! In the end, I got a satisfying piece, which is also the best souvenir from this trip!

I had the best experience doing the process of Batik and admired the art of it. These two lovely people are also patient with me. They are warm and friendly. It made the process a lot easier because of their encouragement. Travelers should try this! Had the absolute best time :) a warm group of teachers taught an equally enthusiastic and fun group of students Batik! I was so moved by the Batik Class that I booked the Kelki class! The teachers are kind, encouraging, gentle and patient. I'm most definitely going back for a longer program next time :)!

Such a fun experience! All of the teachers were so lovely and helpful. If you want to get to know some locals, learn a traditional art style, relax and have fun in a beautiful family compound, I highly recommend. I would gladly come back!

So much fun! The instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful, and at the end of the 3 hour class we had two unique batik pieces to take home with us. it's harder than it looks, but definitely worth trying, especially if you enjoy experimenting local arts and crafts.

I had a really great time. The staff were busy taking care of an Australian grandmother who got burned, but I was so engrossed in looking at the raw stone necklace charms while waiting for mine to be finished and dry that I lost track of time.

The instructor was very patient and handled all situations well. The workshop environment was also very peaceful, making for an enjoyable morning. ❤️❤️

This time, we had a private class! Although the description says to arrive 30 minutes early, arriving on time is perfectly fine. The instructor was incredibly attentive, monitoring our progress from the initial carving to the final shaping. They immediately helped correct any mistakes, which was very reassuring. It was a very rewarding hands-on experience, and I highly recommend it when visiting Ubud!
