Reviews
Great experience. The sailing boat is great, and the trip is beautiful. You get a great sight of the lake and mountains around. The Skipper is very knowledgeable, kind and funny. The Maori Rock Carvings are great to see, and the sailing boat was pretty unique compared to similar tours. You also get to swim for a while, snacks and drinks. Very recommended.
The boat trip from the meeting point to the stone carvings takes 1 hour, and the round trip takes 1 hour, so you only have about 30 minutes to stay at the stone carvings to watch. However, lying on the deck, blowing the sea breeze and looking at the sky, you can relax all morning, it is very comfortable! When you arrive at the stone carving location, the crew will explain it in detail, and you can also jump into the water and swim. Drinks will be provided on the return trip, and blankets will be provided when it's cold.
We went there in July so the weather was quite cold and windy but the good thing is we could enjoy the ride with less people. (There were only the two of us that morning). Our skipper David was very kind and accommodating. The Māori rock carvings were one of a kind. Highly recommended if you're visiting Taupo.
This was one of the best things we did on our 17 day NZ trip. The captain was amazing telling us the history of the lake and carvings very hospitable and answered all questions. It was so relaxing spending a morning on the sail boat even in winter as there are heaps of blankets and warm drinks. Highly recommend.
love it. very nice people and informative and always prepared drinks to warm us up in winter! The ride itself was comfortable and easy.
Great experience, but a small family run business. the ship is a camataran which is an added bonus.
have a great experience, the guide were friendly and knowledgeable. The catamaran was clean n cosy
Even though it was raining, there were blankets on board, and the English tour guide was very friendly.
trust me, sailing like this is better than cruising! so many relaxing space on the outside! you can even sleep and sit anywhere and see the view
The scenery is beautiful, but it would be a bit boring to sit on the boat for a long time. There are free drinks and snacks, which is very considerate.
