Sunrise Kayaking Experience in Hoi An

Unfortunately, due to the weather, we couldn't see the sunrise, but it was still a very good trip. We had the option to choose between kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), but since the weather wasn't great and it was windy, we opted for the more stable kayak. We started by paddling towards the fish market on the opposite bank of the river. With a tailwind, it was relatively easy to make progress. Once we reached land, we were given a tour of the fish sauce production facility at the fish market. Afterward, we enjoyed some banh mi and coffee and took a short break. Then, we kayaked back the way we came, but the strong headwind made it feel like it took three times as long as the outbound journey, and it was physically demanding. Two female students who were also on the tour were blown off course by the wind at one point, and the tour guide had to tie their kayak to his and tow them along. This time, there were only me plus the two female students (who were in the same kayak), so the guide was able to help them. However, I wondered if it might be a bit dangerous if several people were blown off course in different places simultaneously. That said, the guide mentioned that the wind was particularly strong this time, so I imagine it's usually not an issue. The latter half of the route took us into a narrow river, where there was no wind, allowing us to fully experience the local wetlands and enjoy a calm and relaxing time.

My morning kayak guided tour was incredible. The water is very calm in the morning and we got to see so much. We watched fishermen cast and draw in nets as we headed toward a fishing village, where we stopped for breakfast and coffee before visiting the local fish market and a fish sauce factory. On the way back, we kayaked through a small island farm filled with cows surrounded by the river instead of fences. It was nice having the chance to spend the morning one-on-one with my guide. I learned a lot about the history of this region and Vietnam as a whole. Quân is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide, it was a pleasure speaking to him. He also drives safely and takes great pictures. I would recommend this tour highly!
