What to expect

Visit the Dujiangyan Scenic Area, a World Cultural and Irrigation Engineering Heritage site, built in 256 BC under the direction of Li Bing, Governor of Shu Commandery. It is the world's oldest surviving, continually operating damless water diversion project. Consisting of three main components—the Fish Mouth (Yuzui), Flying Sand Weir (Feishayan), and Bottle-Neck Channel (Baopingkou)—it achieves automatic water splitting, flood discharge, and sand removal, creating the Land of Abundance.
