- The funicular to the Cross is closed indefinitely, but the Cross remains accessible

The Valle de Cuelgamuros (formerly known as the Valle de los Caidos or Valley of the Fallen) is a monumental memorial complex situated in the pine-forested foothills of the Sierra de Guadarrama near Madrid, Spain. Commissioned by dictator Francisco Franco in 1940 and constructed largely through the forced labor of political prisoners, the site serves as the resting place for over 33,000 victims of the Spanish Civil War.
