Reviews
Early bird access was worth every penny - guide was knowledgeable and engaging, Gallipoli exhibition was not only very informative but also gave a sense of what it was like for the soldiers - very moving and an insight into the soul and history of New Zealand.
Great experience! After the tour, I stayed two more hours visiting the museum. It's an incredible place with so much information. If you come to Wellington, it has to be on your list.
Exhibits were very well done and the wealth of information presented was exceptional. The Gallipoli exhibition was especially compelling. Our tour was friendly, professional and highly knowledgeable. A great experience overall.
Te Papa Museum was cool and definitely worth checking out if you're in Wellington. The Gallipoli exhibit was impressive and the Māori cultural displays were insightful. It's well laid out and free, which is a big plus. That said, I’ve been to other museums that felt more immersive overall. Still, a solid way to spend a few hours and learn about New Zealand’s history and culture.
it’s a great museum plenty of history and culture , The Gallipoli display is amazing. Must see.
Visiting Te Papa Tongarewa was absolutely the highlight of our time in Wellington. I honestly cannot recommend it enough! The Gallipoli: The Scale of Our War exhibition left us completely speechless. The giant sculptures created by Weta Workshop are hauntingly realistic, bringing the history to life in a way that is both heartbreaking and beautiful. It was an emotional experience that we won’t forget. Beyond the war history, the nature and art exhibitions were fantastic. My whole family loved exploring the natural history sections—seeing the unique native wildlife and the diverse landscapes gave us such a vivid picture of the country. We also gained a profound appreciation for local culture and Aotearoa’s history through the stunning Māori artifacts and storytelling on display. It wasn’t just educational; it was genuinely fun for all of us. We walked away feeling like we truly understand this beautiful country better.
I enjoyed the various exhibition that was on display. we went to all 4 floors to explore. I enjoyed the passport immigrations , war history and cultural side of the olden times in NZ. group size:

An interesting museum with some interactive elements. We didn't quite understand the logic of all the exhibits, so it's probably best to take a guided tour.
