Guide

  • Jinggang Ancient Town is located on the west bank of the Xiang River in Wangcheng District, Changsha City. Originally named Lujiang, it is said to have been named after General Li Jing of the Tang Dynasty, who was stationed here and managed his troops effectively. With a profound history spanning over a thousand years, it was once a bustling commercial port with smooth waterways and endless sails, ranking among Hunan's four major rice markets and earning the reputation of "Little Hankou." As a national 4A-level tourist attraction and a famous historical and cultural town in China, Jinggang Ancient Town is like an old Changsha "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" painting floating on the Xiang River, making it an excellent destination for visitors to experience the charm of a thousand-year-old water town and Hunan's folk customs.
  • The ancient town still preserves its historical layout of "eight streets, four alleys, and seven wharves," along with a large number of original Qing Dynasty buildings. Strolling along the ancient streets paved with bluestone slabs, visitors can sequentially explore the former site of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, Hongtai Workshop, Jinggang Shadow Play Art Museum, and various ancient guild halls, temples, and workshops. Visitors can not only trace the marks of time amidst the grey bricks and black tiles, experience unique shadow puppet shows and opera face-changing, but also taste authentic Jinggang dried tofu, rice tofu, and other nearly lost Hunan intangible cultural heritage delicacies, experiencing the pure essence of local life.
  • After recent comprehensive quality upgrades, Jinggang Ancient Town is now brimming with new vitality. The scenic area has not only added a variety of colorful daytime performances, painted pleasure boats on the water, and a grand market on the ancient streets, but its night tour experience is also highly anticipated. As night falls and the ancient streets and water town are illuminated, they exude a unique romantic charm. The meticulously crafted large-scale main show "Flowers Bloom in Jinggang" and splendid fireworks displays have made this a comprehensive, immersive leisure and holiday destination, offering visitors surprising and immersive experiences day and night.
